Former Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Paul Posluszny has tipped Josh Allen to be crowned NFL MVP come the end of the season.
The Bills are so desperately craving their maiden Super Bowl crown this campaign, with no team having fallen short more often than them. They were defeated in four straight showpiece events from 1991 to 1994.
They were left heartbroken once more last season as Denver Broncos beat them 33-30 to reach the AFC Championship Game – with Allen having been intercepted in overtime before Wil Lutz kicked a field goal to claim victory.
NFL MVP race
The Bills will be looking to star man Allen to lead them to glory this year, as they head into the new season among the favourites. And Posluszny, a star linebacker during the years of 2007 – 2017, is tipping the quarterback to be the main man this season.
Speaking in an interview with iPredicta, Posluszny said: “My pick for NFL MVP this year? It’d be hard to bet against Josh Allen. I think his expectations going into this year are obviously high, but he’s performed at a high level year over year.”
However, Allen was warned of the threat that Patrick Mahomes poses, with the three-time Super Bowl champion desperate for revenge after a very disappointing season last time out with the Kansas City Chiefs.
He added: “Another one that’ll be interesting to see, Patrick Mahomes is going to come back fast. I mean, I truly believe that with his work ethic, the way that he trains and prepares. And honestly the science involved in rehabilitation now is just accelerating incredibly. So seeing him, he can have another MVP like year for sure.
“I mean he may have to change his game a little bit. His mobility in the pocket has been such an enormous advantage for him and we still expect to see that moving forward. Coming off an ACL is obviously a challenge. But if there’s someone that can do it and do it at a high level, it’s him. So I do expect him to see a return to his elite status this season.”
Los Angeles Rams head into this season as Super Bowl favourites, having lost to eventual champions Seattle Seahawks last season in the NFC Championship game.
The Bills, led by QB Allen, follow closely behind and will be desperate to right the wrongs of seasons gone by. The new campaign kicks off tomorrow when the Seahawks begin their defence against New England Patriots at Lumen Field.
