JD Vance says door not shut on another Marco Rubio run for President

‘If either of us end up running, it’s a long ways in the future and neither of us is entitled to it.’

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio may find himself on the GOP Presidential Preference Primary ticket again, if Vice President JD Vance’s prediction holds true.

During an interview with Sean Hannity, Vance addressed his own potential run for the White House, but acknowledged that Rubio, his “best friend” in the administration, may be on the campaign trail also.

“If Marco eventually runs for President, then we can cross that bridge when we come to it,” Vance said Thursday, as transcribed by The Hill.

“People have asked me ‘do you see Marco as a rival,’ and first of all, if either of us end up running, it’s a long ways in the future and neither of us is entitled to it. So I think it would be ridiculous for me to say Marco is a rival. No, Marco is a colleague.”

President Donald Trump seems to think Rubio and Vance would be a functional ticket, one that could clear the still-evolving field of his potential successors.

“I’m not sure if anybody would run against those two. I think if they formed a group it would be unstoppable,” the President said, according to POLITICO Playbook.

Polling consistently has shown that Vance leads among Republicans expressing a preference for 2028, so it would seem that any “group” involving the two would have Rubio as a candidate for Vice President.

A YouGov survey conducted this month finds Rubio and Gov. Ron DeSantis (another potential candidate) in mid-single-digits when Republican Primary voters are asked who their “ideal” candidate for President is, with Vance being the choice of more than 2/5 of respondents.
