Security concerns drove the decision.
The Vice President’s office said Vance was in Florida on Friday, where he quietly met during the day with the president at his golf club in West Palm Beach to discuss the impending strikes.
But JD Vance did not join Trump and other top administration officials at Mar-a-Lago to watch the operation because the national security team was concerned about the vice president’s motorcade potentially tipping off the Venezuelans to the impending action.
Vance instead watched the operation unfold via secure video conference and then flew to his home in Cincinnati after the operation concluded. His office said he was “deeply integrated in the process and planning.”
Vance’s office said that due “to increased security concerns, the Administration has aimed to limit the frequency and duration of the Vice President and President being co-located away from the White House.”
