TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Travis Jankowski had a pair of hits including the winning RBI single in the ninth inning in Tampa Bay’s 3-2 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday after the first home field weather delays in Rays teams history.
Jankowski singled off closer Trevor Megill to bring home rookie Kameron Misner, who was walked by Grant Anderson (1-2) and stole second.
The hit might have produced a close play at the plate but the ball snuck under the glove of left fielder Isaac Collins. Misner scored two of Tampa Bay’s three runs.
A journeyman who spent spring training with both the Cubs and White Sox before the Rays acquired him last month, Jankowski also gave Tampa Bay a 2-1 lead with a fourth-inning sacrifice fly.
Pete Fairbanks (3-1) pitched the ninth.
Jackson Chourio put Milwaukee on the board with a first-pitch solo homer off Taj Bradley in the third. In the fifth, Joey Ortiz snuck a solo homer inside the right-field foul pole, his first home run since Sept. 20.
Key moment
Following a 38-minute rain delay in the bottom of the fifth, pitchers from both teams combined to retire 19 straight until the Brewers’ ninth, when consecutive batters reached on errors. After Fairbanks walked Rhys Hoskins to load the bases, Fairbanks got a popup and flyout to preserve the tie.
Key stat
Precipitation delayed the first pitch by 27 minutes, the first home rain delay in Tampa Bay’s 28-year franchise history. The skies opened again in the bottom of the fifth. The Rays are temporarily playing at Steinbrenner Field after Hurricane Milton shredded Tropicana Field’s roof in October.
Fans were given free ponchos to mark the occasion.

The look is there and some of the Pro’s in F1 compering Andrea Antonelli’s driving style to Senna’s “RAW UNREFINED”- Ayrton Senna was a three-time Formula One World Champion, known for his aggressive driving style and fierce competitive nature.
Antonelli’s dominance and rapid rise from F4 to F1 seems amazing, plus being the first driver to score points in his first 3 F1 GPs since Lewis Hamilton in 2007 assures Mercedes and fans that He is here to stay!
Mercedes team partner WhatsApp released on Netflix ‘The Seat’ in May, a 45-minute documentary charting the previous year of the Italian’s life as he geared up for his promotion to F1.
“Selecting Kimi as our race driver for 2025 was, as ‘The Seat’ documents, a big decision,” said Mercedes F1 boss Toto Wolff, who was captured in the trailer informing Antonelli of the choice to promote him.
Fast and furious Kimi Antonelli crashed during his first Formula 1 FP1 session at Monza, hitting the barrier at Parabolica. The crash resulted in a 52G impact, marking a significant incident in his debut outing.
Toto Wolff on his conversion with Antonelli before getting in the car:“I told him to enjoy it”. I think he has a lot of natural ability but he must not forget that this is the best job in the world.“I said to him also to take the pressure off – we live in our microbubble here, nobody’s interested in FP1 anyway. Whatever happens, happens, and just get on with things. And I told him the same after the session.”
So far, Kimi Antonelli has competed in six Formula 1 races and has a total of 48 points in the Drivers’ Championship. He currently sits in sixth place in the standings.
The next Formula 1 Grand Prix for Antonelli’s team, Mercedes, is the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola, Italy, on May 18th ,2025. The race will be the second round of the 2025 F1 season.
Interesting is that Kimi Antonelli is still finishing his high school studies. He is in his final year and completing them online through ITCS Gaetano Salvemini School.
18 years old Antonelli has passed his driver’s test and obtained a driver’s license in January 2025, shortly before making his Formula 1 debut with Mercedes.
Kimi Antonelli’s reported salary is $2 million and his contract with Mercedes initially covers the 2025 F1 season.
Despite the initial one-year deal, “Toto Wolff, Mercedes team principal, has confirmed that the contract includes options for a longer-term commitment – given his history with the Mercedes Junior Team and the team’s investment in his career.
Andrea Kimi Antonelli decides to use number 12 to race as Ayrton Senna did, and talks about the One of a Kind F1 Driver that inspired him “He’s, my idol. I didn’t get to see him racing with my own eyes during my life, but I’ve seen videos and through that, I could understand how special he was. That’s why he’s my role model. He always got the best out of what he was doing, trying to learn as much as possible so through those videos, he’s become my inspiration”.
Brazilian F1 driver Ayrton Senna was killed on May 1 after his car crashed into a concrete barrier while he was leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, Imola Circuit in Italy. Mechanical failure was the cause of the crash, as post-crash analysis found that Senna’s steering column had snapped around the time that his car was about to round the Tamburello corner.
F1 remains the most dominant in Motorsport industry because its cutting-edge technology, high-speed racing, skilled drivers, and unique competitive landscape.
Most impactful quote about Formula 1 drivers is by Ayrton Senna: “If you no longer go for a gap that exists, you are not a racing driver.”

Sometime around 6 p.m. EDT Monday, locked inside a secure room with no way of communicating with the outside world, team executives and others will watch 14 ping-pong balls start to bounce inside a machine.
The balls will be numbered, 1 through 14. One will be drawn, then a second, then a third, then a fourth. And with that, the people inside that room will find out, an hour or so before the rest of the world, which team won the No. 1 pick next month in the NBA draft.
The NBA draft lottery is Monday night in Chicago, with the winner getting the chance to pick No. 1 overall. And that means Duke’s Cooper Flagg — the likely No. 1 pick — will have a good chance of knowing which city he’ll be calling home next season as soon as the lottery results are announced.
Nobody inside the room where the results are revealed on a televised broadcast will know who won the lottery until deputy commissioner Mark Tatum makes the actual announcement. Those inside the room remain there, without their phones, until that time.
The race for No. 1
There are 13 teams with a chance to win the No. 1 pick. Utah, Washington and Charlotte have the best odds, 14% each.
New Orleans has a 12.5% chance, Philadelphia a 10.5% chance, Brooklyn a 9% chance, Toronto a 7.5% chance and San Antonio a 6.7% chance.
After that, it’s Houston (3.8%), Portland (3.7%), Dallas (1.8%), Chicago (1.7%) and Sacramento (0.8%).
The reason there are 14 lottery spots but only 13 teams with a chance to win the No. 1 pick is because Atlanta’s odds convey to San Antonio, essentially meaning the Spurs are in the lottery twice — with a 6% chance of winning on their own, and an 0.7% chance to win with the Hawks’ combinations of ping-pong balls.
This system has been in place since 2019, the latest effort to discourage tanking — the practice where teams aren’t overly interested in winning regular season games with hopes instead of bettering their chances of winning the No. 1 draft pick.
The teams with the three worst records all have the same chance — 14% — of winning the No. 1 pick, and odds for the remaining lottery teams are gradually reduced from there.
Where teams can finish
Utah can’t finish below fifth, Washington can’t finish below sixth, Charlotte can’t finish below seventh and New Orleans can’t finish below eighth.
Philadelphia would keep the pick should it land in the top six; any other result — only seventh, eighth or ninth would be possible at that point — would send the pick to Oklahoma City.
Brooklyn, Toronto, San Antonio, Houston, Portland, Dallas, Chicago and Sacramento all could move up into the top four as well. They would all have to buck long odds — and in some cases, really long odds — for that to happen. Brooklyn has a 37% chance of getting there; Sacramento only has about a 4% chance.
The rest of the draft order
The lottery only sets the order for the first 14 picks in the draft. The rest of the first-round — picks 15-30 — were determined by regular-season finish, though some of these picks have been traded many times over the years.
The rest of the first-round order, for now, is: Oklahoma City picks No. 15, Orlando No. 16, Minnesota No. 17, Washington No. 18, Brooklyn No. 19 and Miami No. 20.
From there, the final 10 picks in the first round are owned by Utah (21), Atlanta (22), Indiana (23), Oklahoma City (24), Orlando (25), Brooklyn (26 and 27), Boston (28), Phoenix (29) and the Los Angeles Clippers (30).
The Philadelphia Eagles will start defending their championship at home on Sept. 4 against the division rival Dallas Cowboys.
The matchup for the annual regular-season kickoff game was revealed on Monday by the NFL, the first in a series of announcements of notable games coming this week ahead of the full schedule release on Wednesday night.
The Cowboys-Eagles matchup will be on Thursday night, the first game in NBC’s package of primarily Sunday night games. NBC also announced that its streaming service, Peacock, will exclusively broadcast a Saturday night game in Week 17 on Dec. 27, a matchup that will be determined later from a pool of possible options based on how the playoff races have shaped up then.
Every team will be alive and well, of course, when the Eagles and Cowboys play in Week 1 for the first time in 25 years. Dallas has opened with a different NFC East opponent, the New York Giants, eight times since then.
This year, the matchup will feature the first game for the Cowboys under new coach Brian Schottenheimer and the expected return of quarterback Dak Prescott, who missed the second half of last season because of a hamstring injury that contributed to a 7-10 finish and their first absence from the playoffs since 2020. Including their annual Thanksgiving Day home games, the Cowboys have won seven straight Thursday games.
The NFL has opened the regular season with a Thursday night game since 2002, largely with the reigning Super Bowl champion as the home team, with a few exceptions. This will be only the fourth time an intra-division game was selected.
This will be the fourth game shown exclusively on Peacock, with broadcasts also available on NBC stations in the markets of the competing teams. Peacock had the Eagles’ opener last season against the Green Bay Packers in Brazil on a Friday night as well as an AFC wild-card game between the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs in the 2023 playoffs and a Week 16 game between the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Chargers in 2023.
