A social media influencer with a history of antisemitic comments online has filed paperwork to challenge U.S. Rep. Randy Fine.
Dan Bilzerian, a Tampa resident, said last month he was considering a run against Fine. On Tuesday, he officially opened a Federal Election Commission account, indicating he may fund his own campaign. Fine won his seat in a Special Election last year.
Bilzerian’s campaign did not respond to requests for comment. The address on his campaign paperwork is also used by a law firm that represents Lake County Commissioner Anthony Sabatini.
Bilzerian founded Ignite International Brands, a cannabis and vaping company, in 2018. On Wednesday morning, danbilzerian.com linked to the company’s website, but by the afternoon, the link was inactive. The same happened with Bilzerianforcongress.com, his official campaign site.
He has sharply criticized Fine for supporting Israel and military action in Iran, and has often pointed out Fine’s record of anti-Muslim remarks.
Bilzerian also has a record of making controversial statements.
“We get it, you’re a Jew, and you support America’s destruction to help your parasitic nation,” Balzerian posted in an X post directed at Fine on Tuesday, the same day he filed federal paperwork. “He has no place in our govt, and when I unseat him, I’m going to draft laws to have anyone putting Israel before America tried for treason.”
Days earlier, he posted, “This fat jew Rep. Fine publicly talks s*** about Muslims but says he’s passed laws to throw people in prison for five years for criticizing Jews.”
Fine is Jewish and, during his time in the Florida Legislature, sponsored antisemitism laws that are now part of the state statute.
Although he is running in a Republican Primary, Bilzerian does not seem to be seeking President Donald Trump’s endorsement. On Tuesday, as many Democrats called for Trump’s removal after a media post promising “a whole civilization will die” during ceasefire talks with Iran, Bilzerian also publicly called for the 25th Amendment to be used to declare Trump unfit to serve.
He also shared an anti-war message that Iran’s new President reportedly distributed.
Bilzerian’s personal life has also drawn attention. His Wikipedia page details past drug use that led to two heart attacks. In 2014, he was banned from a Miami nightclub after kicking a woman in the face, according to the Huffington Post.
But he boasts one of the largest social media followings. Once called the “King of Instagram, he currently has nearly 30 million followers on that platform, where he has posted photographs of himself socializing with controversial figures like Andrew Tate and partying with women.
