‘Jimmy Kimmel’ Suspension Hollywood Warns Free Speech is No Longer
Published
Hollywood is speaking out against ABC’s suspension of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” over host Jimmy Kimmel‘s comments on the murder of CharlieKirk.
Ben Stillerwas among the first to protest the move by ABC, tweeting “This isn’t right.”
His fellow actor Rosie O’Donnell shared a photo of Kimmel on Instagram and went off on Donald Trump‘s administration. She wrote … “this is unacceptable – f**k this fascist administration and corrupt corporate executives – bowing to the orange monster – america is no more 🥲.”

Comedian Wanda Sykes aired her thoughts via Instagram video while revealing she was supposed to be a guest on ‘Kimmel’ Wednesday night. She also took aim at the prez, saying … “Let’s see. He didn’t end the Ukraine war or solve Gaza within his first week. But he did end freedom of speech within his first year. Hey, for those of you who pray, now’s the time to do it. Love you, Jimmy.”
MSNBC’s Chris Hayes shared a similar sentiment, tweeting … “This is the most straightforward attack on free speech from state actors I’ve ever seen in my life and it’s not even close.”
“One Tree Hill” alum Sophia Bush also claimed free speech is gone, protesting … “The First Amendment doesn’t exist in America anymore. Period. Fascism is here and it’s chilling.”
Don Lemon, Henry Winkler, Halsey, Alison Brie, Christie Brinkley and so many others also spoke out on the shocking news.
Furthermore, the Writers Guild of America West and Writers Guild of America East stood by Jimmy’s side, writing in a statement … , “The right to speak our minds and to disagree with each other – to disturb, even – is at the very heart of what it means to be a free people. It is not to be denied. Not by violence, not by the abuse of governmental power, nor by acts of corporate cowardice.”
They went on … “If free speech applied only to ideas we like, we needn’t have bothered to write it into the Constitution. What we have signed on to – painful as it may be at times – is the freeing agreement to disagree.”
Screen Actors Guild–American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) also condemned the decision to pull “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Their statement read … “Our society depends on freedom of expression. Suppression of free speech and retaliation for speaking out on significant issues of public concern run counter to the fundamental rights we all rely on.”
The message went on … “The decision to suspend airing Jimmy Kimmel Live! is the type of suppression and retaliation that endangers everyone’s freedoms.”
Protesters also let their voices be heard by hanging up posters accusing Trump of being fascist outside the studio that houses Jimmy’s show.
ICYMI, the FCC and ABC’s owner Nexstar Media Group took issue with Jimmy’s recent comments on his show about Charlie’s shooting death and indefinitely suspended his show.
ABC
The statement in question is … “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”
Jimmy has not spoken publicly following his show’s hiatus … but we spotted him swiftly heading to his vehicle in an L.A. garage shortly after the decision was made, and he kept a straight face.
On the other hand, Trump was far from straight-faced about the news, taking to his Truth Social platform to cheer on the decision.
Anthony Geary, who famously played Luke Spencer on “General Hospital,” is dead … TMZ has confirmed.
The soap opera star died Sunday in Amsterdam … according to a family member.
Anthony’s official cause of death is unclear, but there are reports he died as a result of complications from a planned surgery in Amsterdam.
Anthony won eight Daytime Emmy Awards and is mostly known for his role on “General Hospital” … though he also made appearances on “The Partridge Family,” “The Mod Squad,” “All in the Family” and “The Young and the Restless.”
On “General Hospital,” Anthony and Genie Francis became the signature couple among soap operas … and when their characters got married in 1981, a whopping 30 million people tuned in for the TV nuptials, with Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor — a huge ‘GH’ fan — making a cameo.
Anthony was born in Utah and raised by Mormon parents. He earned a theater scholarship to the University of Utah and got his career started as a stage actor before moving to Los Angeles in the 1970s and getting into Hollywood.
Bill Belichickcontinues to be the base to Jordon Hudson‘s flyer… as the 73-year-old was spotted cheering on his 24-year-old girlfriend at a competition in Atlanta over the weekend.
TMZ Sports obtained photos of the couple looking happier than ever on Sunday. Belichick — rocking a buttoned shirt and a Navy submarine hat — was seen alongside Jordon, who was all dolled up in her cheerleading uniform.
Hudson once again suited up for Code Black … who she competed for last month at a Cheer Extreme All-Stars event in Raleigh.
Seemingly, Belichick is paying his dues after Hudson was right by his side during his first year as the University of North Carolina head football coach. As you know … it was a tough go for the eight-time Super Bowl Champion — who went 4-8 and missed out on getting a bowl game.
She shared a carousel of photos in a recap after the team played their last home game — a 32-25 loss to Duke — all while taking a swipe at her critics.
“I’ve loved supporting @billbelichick at his adult all-male football league competitions this season,” Hudson wrote. “Until next year, Kenan!”

BB’s first season was also marked with tons of drama off the field. Hudson has found herself in a feud with investigative journalist Pablo Torre … even claiming she planned to sue him — which came after he spent the last few months diving into the couple’s romance.
But for now, the two have the offseason to reset and recharge before the next college football campaign, and it seems like Belichick will have to carve out some time to catch a few more cheerleading events!
Nick Reiner — the son of Rob and Michele Reiner, who’s been arrested on suspicion of murdering them — was missing for hours after his parents were found with their throats slit inside their Brentwood home … TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement sources say … after Rob and Michele’s daughter Romy found their bodies, she noted to police Nick had been living there and was possibly behind the murders.
When police responded to a call for a death investigation around 3:40 PM Sunday, Nick was nowhere to be found. Romy was the one who called 911 and told police her brother was “dangerous” and should be considered a suspect.

Romy told police Nick was not there when she arrived, insinuating he fled the scene. Police finally located and arrested Nick at approximately 9:15 PM Sunday.
