Gus Bilirakis outpaces Democrats Darren McAuley, Kimberly Overman in second quarter

U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis pulled in $468,000 in the second quarter, with his intake growing as a new congressional map altered his political environment.

Meanwhile, Democratic challengers Darren McCauley and Kimberly Overman, who both just shifted sights to the Palm Harbour Republican, raised a combined $209,000 in the same time.

The bottom line, Bilirakis has raised nearly $1.5 million as he seeks an 11th term, and wrapped June with $587,000 in the bank. Meanwhile, McAuley closed the quarter with almost $242,000 and Overman was down to less than $10,000.

Bilirakis in the last quarter reported more than $229,000 in individual contributions, with PACs also tossing more than $201,000 at the incumbent.

Prominent donors for Bilirakis include venture capitalist and Netscape co-founder Marc Andreeson, while the American Israel Public Affairs Committee has now given more than $27,000 to his campaign.

Businesses including L3Harris Technologies and trade groups like America’s Electric Cooperatives, the American Car Rental Association and CoalPAC all gave to the House Energy and Commerce Committee member.

McCauley posted almost $152,000 in the quarter, less than he did in the first quarter. In early 2026, he was running in a different district against U.S. Rep. Laurel Lee, but switched to fighting Bilirakis in Florida’s 12th Congressional District after the new map effectively insulated Lee from a Democratic challenge.

McCauley’s quarterly totals further established him as the fundraising leader among Democrats. His totals include $146,000 from individuals and $6,000 from PACs, including from Maine Democratic U.S. Rep. Jake Auchincloss’ Beyond Thoughts and Prayers PAC and from Arizona Democratic U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly’s Liftoff PAC.

Overman raised $52,000, entirely from individual donors. She also jumped from a race against Lee to fighting Bilirakis after the new map was put in place.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee notably listed Lee among its “Districts in Play” before McAuley and Overman switched races, but since dropped her from its target list. To date, the political arm of House Democrats has not said it will make a play for Bilirakis’ seat, but sources say the district is under consideration.
