A new member of the Baker County Commission is taking office.
Gov. Ron DeSantis this week appointed Terrence “Blake” Iverson to fill a vacant seat on the governing body of Baker County in the interior of North Florida.
Iverson is well entrenched in Baker County. He’s the owner of Hometown Electrical, an electrical service company based in Macclenny. It provides service calls to homes and businesses in Baker County and surrounding areas.
Iverson obtained his electricians certification at the Jacksonville Joint Apprenticeship.
Iverson is also involved in faith initiatives in Baker County. He’s the President and Pastor of the Firm Foundation Youth Ministry Inc. in Glen St. Mary. It’s a nonprofit organization that focuses on youth outreach and development.
Iverson is filling in the District 4 seat on the Baker County Commission after the previous officeholder, James Bennett, passed away Dec. 8.
Bennett served on the County Commission for more than a decade. He was first elected in 2014. District 4 spans northern Baker County, including Taylor and Baxter.
Bennett was the Baker County liaison to the Northeast Florida Regional Council, North Florida Regional Transportation Commission, the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization agency, and the Small County Coalition.
DeSantis announced he would fill the District 4 vacancy on Jan. 6, when he began consideration for the new appointee.
