Mel Owens is trying to make up for his insensitive comments about age as filming for “The Golden Bachelor” Season 2 gets underway … revealing he apologized to all the ladies on the first night of shooting.
The reality TV star spoke to Glamour for an interview published Friday about a comment he made on a podcast in June, when he said he preferred to date a woman between the ages of 45 and 60 … and, he said he told producers to “try to stay away from the artificial hips and the wigs, you know, that kind of stuff.”

The interview sent fans into a frenzy, and they called for his firing from the show … which tipped Owens off to the fact that he’d said something wrong — ’cause he admits until a respected colleague called him on the comments, he didn’t see the big deal.
Owens said he walked into ‘Golden Bachelor’ filming and apologized immediately … and, he says a number of the ladies told him in their one-on-ones that they appreciated the apology.
Mel says he paid for comments on the show, though … the show held a roast, and the women got their licks in — with one comparing him to a Detroit-style pizza.
Owens admits he was shocked by how “brilliant” all these women are … and how active they are in their careers as well.

Ultimately, Owens chalks up his controversial comments to years of not dating … so, his frame of reference is all off about what it means for women to be in their 60s. Mel is 66, BTW.
As for whether the audience should forgive him … Mel says he hopes to win their trust back one episode at a time.

Reunites With Both Jennifer Exes at Son’s Play

Ben Affleck‘s a “Daredevil” … walking a tightrope by interacting with both his famous ex-wives at his son Samuel‘s play.
The actor was spotted in Los Angeles Friday night … walking with his son and Jennifer Garner in the parking lot … while seemingly leaning in to listen to his kiddo. JG seems deep in thought here while walking on her son’s other side.
Closer to the playhouse where Samuel took the stage, Jennifer Lopez could be seen chatting animatedly with other parents and kids … though it doesn’t appear Ben went over to her at any point.
In fact, the two could be seen in one shot talking to very separate groups of people — Ben’s back to J-Lo’s convo — possibly to avoid any sort of awkward interaction.
Samuel did stop to talk to Lopez, though … after all, she still has a great relationship with Ben’s kids even though Bennifer’s officially through.
As you know … Affleck and Lopez finalized their divorce earlier this year … and, while he’s regularly seen out with his first ex-wife Garner, we haven’t seen him spending any significant time with Lopez.
Their children have remained friends — so interactions between the Affleck and Lopez kids are common — the parents just aren’t at a “friendly lunch or coffee” stage in their relationship.
Anyhoo … all the world’s a stage … and at least these two can play nice for the kids’ sake!

Russell Simmons claims his ex-wife won’t let him see his kids … alleging she’s using them as leverage to keep him from taking legal action against her.
Here’s the deal … Kimora Lee Simmons spoke to People last week about her exes … admitting she doesn’t have a relationship with Simmons, actor Djimon Hounsou, or investment banker and convicted felon, Tim Leissner.
KLS told the outlet, “Usually I would say that I co-parent okay, but the kids are with me full-time. I’m pretty much the primary parent. It’s difficult, but I don’t know sometimes what other people are thinking. Guys are weird.”
Well, Russell clearly feels Kimora’s not giving the full story on their relationship … because he took to Instagram to vent his frustration … first by mentioning he gave her $50k a month for 20 years and calling himself her best and only friend.
He then writes, “I’m the godfather to your 3 other kids, until one day you stole my stock. I have been fighting for my kids love and my bread ever since. You threatened that if I sued you, I would never speak to my kids ever again. There are two sides to every story.”
Worth noting … Russell and Kimora’s kids don’t seem like they’re much interested in a relationship with the music star — because on Father’s Day 2023, Aoki and Ming both roasted him for never being around, and Aoki even shared tense texts she exchanged with Russell.
