Florida Polytechnic University is partnering with the National Chin Yi University of Technology (NCUT) in Taiwan to boost research momentum and tap new solutions in today’s rapidly evolving tech space.
The schools signed an agreement allowing for the mutual exchange of faculty to boost academic engagement; graduate and undergraduate students to increase research and study opportunities; and joint programs to strengthen connections between academia and the technology industry.
School leaders at both institutions expect the partnership to yield advancements in various sectors, such as mechanical and electrical engineering, advanced manufacturing and future technologies.
The agreement comes after Florida Poly leaders participated in an international trade and business development leadership mission in Asia in October, where Florida Poly President Devin Stephenson joined Florida Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly and Secretary of State Cord Byrd in Taiwan and Japan to explore strategic global alliances.
“This partnership is a natural fit for two universities committed to applied, industry-driven STEM education,” Stephenson said. “We look forward to the mutual benefits this collaboration will bring to our faculty, students and research endeavors as we work together to advance academic excellence.”
As the state’s only public university dedicated to science, technology, engineering and mathematics education, Florida Poly has positioned itself as an emerging leader in STEM, with the NCUT partnership complementing the school’s focus and strengthening its engineering fields with practical, hands-on learning.
“We are excited to partner with Florida Poly to advance academic exchanges and research cooperation that benefit students and faculty at both institutions,” NCUT President Kuen-Suan Chen said.
The partnership will support Florida Poly’s strategic goals, including expanding global engagement while creating opportunities for students and faculty in cutting-edge research and academic exchange.
The agreement is effective immediately, and it allows for the option to extend the agreement beyond the initial five-year period.
