No. 8 Florida takes its unbeaten record and rising SEC profile to Columbia, Missouri, on Saturday for a ranked road showdown with No. 25 Missouri at Faurot Field. The Gators enter at 4-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play after their 52-28 statement win over Ole Miss, but a Missouri team coming off its first loss presents a demanding road environment and an important October test.
Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET from Memorial Stadium, with ABC carrying the matchup nationally. Florida owns seven wins in the last four meetings with Missouri, but this game offers a different kind of measuring stick: Can the Gators carry their top-10 momentum into an SEC road venue and prove their fast start has staying power?
Jadan Baugh Powers Florida’s Emerging SEC Case

Florida’s offense has become one of the country’s most dangerous units because of sophomore running back Jadan Baugh. Baugh has rushed 83 times for 600 yards and 11 touchdowns through four games, an average of 7.2 yards per carry. He exploded for 142 yards and three touchdowns against Ole Miss and now ranks as one of college football’s leading early-season Heisman contenders.
The Gators rank No. 1 nationally in EPA per pass and No. 5 in EPA per rush, a combination that gives coach Jon Sumrall’s offense the balance needed for a difficult road assignment. Florida wants to establish Baugh and the running game early, force Missouri to crowd the box and then create efficient throwing opportunities for quarterback Aaron Philo.

Aaron Philo Must Continue His Efficient Start
Philo has delivered a sharp first month for Florida. The quarterback has completed 72.4 percent of his passes for 917 yards, seven touchdowns and two interceptions. He threw for 196 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions during the win over Ole Miss, avoiding costly mistakes while allowing Baugh and the ground game to dictate tempo.
Saturday could ask more of Philo. Missouri’s defense ranks 52nd nationally in EPA per rush, which could tempt the Gators to lean heavily on Baugh. Yet the Tigers allowed Mississippi State quarterback Kamario Taylor to throw for 360 yards and three touchdowns in last week’s 31-24 loss. Florida must attack that vulnerability when Missouri commits extra defenders to stopping the run.
Receiver Vernell Brown III remains a key availability question. Brown has 17 catches for 271 yards and two receiving touchdowns, plus two punt-return touchdowns, but he suffered a low-grade knee sprain against Ole Miss. Florida also listed receiver Bailey Stockton as questionable, although Eric Singleton Jr. practiced fully and should be available.
Missouri Counters With Austin Simmons and Cayden Lee

Missouri enters at 3-1 overall and 0-1 in SEC play after its loss to Mississippi State. Quarterback Austin Simmons has thrown for 947 yards, 11 touchdowns and no interceptions while completing 65.4 percent of his passes. He threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns against Mississippi State, which shows the Tigers have enough firepower to challenge Florida’s secondary.
Cayden Lee leads Missouri with 26 receptions for 403 yards and four touchdowns, while Jamal Roberts takes over as the featured back. Roberts has rushed for 395 yards and three touchdowns, but Missouri will again play without All-American running back Ahmad Hardy. Hardy has not returned to practice after an offseason shooting in Mississippi and has been ruled out for Saturday.

Keys to the Game
Florida’s formula begins with Baugh. If the Gators can run effectively, control the clock and keep Missouri’s pass rush from dictating third-down situations, they can put the Tigers in a difficult position.
The other critical factor is Florida’s ability to limit explosive throws from Simmons. Missouri has a talented quarterback, a productive top receiver and a home crowd ready to create energy after last week’s setback. Florida’s defense must make Simmons earn long drives rather than surrendering quick scores.
Missouri’s edge-rush health also bears watching. The Tigers hope to have starting edge defenders Langden Kitchen and Darris Smith available after both dealt with lower-body injuries. Their ability to pressure Philo could determine whether Florida’s passing efficiency travels.
Florida arrives as a 4.5-point favorite, but this is exactly the type of road game that can define an SEC contender. A Gators victory would move Florida to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in conference play while confirming that its top-10 ranking reflects more than one defining Saturday against Ole Miss.
