Florida gas prices top $4 per gallon for first time in 4 years as Donald Trump warns of ‘Hell’ in Iran

Gas prices in Florida are now more than $4 per gallon for the first time in four years after surging 28 cents last week, according to AAA — The Auto Club Group.

The average price of a regular gallon of gas reached a high of $4.23 last week before declining 3 cents through the weekend.

On Monday morning, the price sat at $4.20 per gallon — 25 cents more than a week ago, $1.31 more than a month ago and $1.02 more than this time last year.

AAA spokesperson Mark Jenkins said the average Florida driver now pays about $20 more to fill up their tank than a month ago.

“Gas prices are climbing quickly because crude oil prices are surging as the conflict with Iran disrupts global fuel supplies,” he said in a statement. “With the Strait of Hormuz still largely closed, ongoing uncertainty continues to push energy markets and prices higher.”

Crude oil prices have gone up nearly 60% since the start of the conflict. Oil prices moved into triple digits last week for the first time in four years.

That matters, AAA said, because roughly half of what drivers pay at the pump is driven by crude oil prices.

On Thursday, U.S. crude oil prices settled at $111.54 per barrel — a 12% increase, or nearly $12 more per barrel, from the previous week.

That hike could trigger another round of rising gas prices in the coming days.

President Donald Trump expressed frustration Sunday with the pinch at the pump, which now has the average price of gas in the U.S. sitting at $4.12 per gallon. He warned that heightened military action targeting Iranian power plants and vital infrastructure will come Tuesday unless the strait reopens.

“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!!” he wrote in an Easter morning post on his Truth Social platform. “Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell — JUST WATCH!!! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf condemned Trump’s threat in an X post at around noon.

“Your reckless moves are dragging the United States into a living HELL for every single family, and our whole region is going to burn because you insist on following (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu’s commands,” he wrote. “Make no mistake: You won’t gain anything through war crimes.”

The cheapest metropolitan market for Florida motorists is Pensacola, where a gallon of regular gas Monday cost just under $3.91, followed by Panama City ($3.91) and the Crestview-Fort Walton Beach area ($3.92).

The most expensive markets, meanwhile, are the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton area ($4.35), Gainesville ($4.27) and Naples ($4.26).
