There’s still a long way to go.

Florida’s first presidential library cleared a procedural hurdle Tuesday, with the Cabinet on board with Gov. Ron DeSantis proposal to place it in Miami-Dade.

A 2.63-acre parcel in Miami-Dade County adjacent to the Freedom Tower at Miami-Dade College will be reserved for the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library.

The college has approved the conveyance of the land, which overlooks Biscayne Bay, for the effort.

But some conditions apply.

The Trump Presidential Library Foundation must relocate within five years, or the state can revoke the land grant.

But if all goes well, “the conveyance will increase economic development opportunities in the region and provide generations of Floridians the ability to reflect and honor the service and legacy of an American President through the time-honored tradition of Presidential libraries and museums,” and will therefore benefit the public.

The entire Cabinet is on board.

Attorney General James Uthmeier said it would be “great for the state” and for Miami-Dade College.

“I think it’s quite fitting that we house it,” Uthmeier said.

CFO Blaise Ingoglia said he’s an “enthusiastic yes.”

DeSantis noted the “unique” nature of having this at a state college as opposed to a university ahead of the unanimous approval of the motion.
