Building on its long history in men’s footwear, the Marche-based brand Doucal’s, founded in 1973 in Montegranaro, is increasingly focusing on its women’s line, which for  spring/summer 2027 is expanding and coming to life in new colourways.

“We have high expectations for the future of our women’s collection because, thanks to our expertise in the men’s sector, we are addressing a relatively uncrowded market segment: footwear for everyday wear, whether at work or in leisure time. We are essentially talking about the loafer; there are very few women’s footwear brands able to offer such a complete range and technical understanding of this category comparable to ours,” CEO Gianni Giannini, the second generation at the helm of the company founded by his father Mario as a small artisanal workshop, tells FashionNetwork.com.

The guiding theme of Doucal’s SS 2027 collection is “The Big Blue”, a story poised between Italian nature and artisanal savoir-faire, where contemporary elegance is expressed through balance, purity and material research.

The brand’s “Made with Kindness” philosophy takes shape in clean lines and essential details that go beyond passing trends. The classic codes of footwear are reinterpreted in the pursuit of absolute comfort, an ambition that has led to the introduction of new superflex soles, which make walking a harmonious gesture in total connection with the ground.

The undisputed star of the new offerings is the Megan loafer, presented in several shades of blue (Malibu, Azzurro, Oceano, and Capri), crafted from soft suede and completely unlined. Its pared-back lines and lightweight construction define a contemporary, sophisticated aesthetic, where the absence of decorative elements highlights the purity of the silhouette and the quality of the materials; the look is completed by the iconic sole in Doucal’s signature yellow.

The season’s colour palette unfolds like a moving landscape: from the deep, enveloping blues that evoke the silent allure of the ocean depths, to warm, tactile earth tones such as dark brown, mud and sand, all illuminated by touches of vibrant red and soft yellow.

“Shoes are the foundation on which our bodies rest; what we strive to do is create comfortable footwear, while working on style, quality and meticulous detailing. Beyond that, there is a need for colour, for emotion,” the entrepreneur concludes.

“We have just come through an incredible season: despite the context, we have continued to grow, including in Italy; a modest increase of around 2%, but a meaningful one. We have a very close relationship with our wholesale partners, most of whom operate in the apparel channel, and our new Milan boutique is also giving us the satisfaction we had hoped for, in both the women’s and men’s segments.”
