President Donald Trump is again endorsing U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis for re-election to Florida’s 12th Congressional District, calling him a “Tremendous Champion” for the district.
“As a Senior Member of the POWERFUL House Energy and Commerce Committee, Gus is working tirelessly to Advance American Energy DOMINANCE, Create GREAT Jobs, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Promote MADE IN THE U.S.A., and Champion our Nation’s Golden Age,” Trump wrote on Truth Social alongside a flurry of similarly worded endorsements for Republican congressional candidates across the nation.
“In Congress, Gus is also fighting tirelessly to Keep our now very Secure Border, SECURE, Stop Migrant Crime, Ensure LAW AND ORDER, Support our Brave Military/Veterans, and Protect our always under siege Second Amendment.”
Trump ended his endorsement with his traditional “Complete and Total Endorsement” line, adding, as he did for others he endorsed Monday, that Bilirakis “WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN.”
Trump previously endorsed Bilirakis in 2024. This is now the fourth time Trump has given Bilirakis his nod.
Bilirakis has long supported Trump, so it’s no wonder the former President is offering his star power. Bilirakis endorsed Trump for President in April 2023 before Trump announced his bid officially, and at a time when sentiment seemed to be leaning toward a Trump alternative for the 2024 presidential race.
Trump also supported Bilirakis in his 2020 and 2022 re-election campaigns.
Bilirakis is so far unopposed this election cycle. In 2024, he faced opposition in the GOP Primary, though the threats to his tenure were far from credible.
Since winning his seat in Washington in 2006, succeeding father and former U.S. Rep. Mike Bilirakis, Gus Bilirakis has focused on bread-and-butter issues that impact his constituents’ lives.
The Center for Effective Lawmaking in 2023 rated Bilirakis the most effective Republican member of the House among the Florida delegation. The Lugar Center, which tracks how often lawmakers work together across the aisle, scored Bilirakis as the most bipartisan member of Florida’s congressional delegation in the last Congress. He was the 27th-highest scoring member nationwide in the 435-member chamber.
