Depop launches DKNY vintage edit as brand searches surge

Britain’s Depop is now owned by America’s Etsy and its latest launch is playing up its American links via DKNY. On Thursday it will unveil a DKNY Vintage x Depop edit, a limited-edition capsule curated by 194 New York’s Sofia Pace.

DKNY Vintage x Depop

It features 40 “hand-picked pieces reimagined into 12 standout ‘90s looks, all available exclusively on Depop starting Thursday at 9am ET”.

The reseller said that DKNY vintage searches were up 49% on Depop in late 2024 and the drop “taps into major demand”.

DKNY was one of the most popular brands of the 1990s and is having something of a comeback moment so the edit makes good commercial sense.

To put the collection together, DKNY linked with Highsnobiety and vintage specialist Pace to combine the 40 pieces into 12 archive-inspired looks “from the era that defined DKNY’s signature blend of New York attitude and effortless style”.

Under the shop name @DKNY, prices will range between $15 and $200 with highlights including a DKNY women’s red and white USA logo tank; a mesh long sleeve zip-up acid wash shirt; a crochet tank; a moto skirt and jacket set; and graphic ‘SOLD OUT’ trousers.

The launch comes a month after Depop introduced AI-powered listings, “helping redefine the resale experience to make it smarter, faster, and more personal, for every user”.

Its new AI tool “can narrow all available listings into 600 highly tailored options based on a user’s in-session actions. This feed updates multiple times a day, ensuring users always discover fresh, relevant items,” we’re told.
