Looking back on 2025, the Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) touted the state’s accomplishments from strengthening its cyber security to helping raising $3.2 million from auctions to benefit state agencies.
“Under Gov. Ron DeSantis’ leadership, Team DMS refuses to focus on yesterday’s solutions; they choose the next opportunity to raise the bar,” said DMS Interim Secretary Tom Berger in a statement. “These achievements demonstrate what’s possible when we leverage technology, innovation, and a laser focus on delivering for Floridians and taxpayers.”
The agency, which has only existed since 1993, describes itself as being “the business arm of Florida government.”
“Serving as a bridge between nonprofits, veteran-owned businesses, law enforcement, and state and federal governments, the State Agency for Surplus Property and the Law Enforcement Support Office donated over 8,000 items, with contributions valued at over $22 million,” DMS said in the press release sent out before the New Year.
Meanwhile, Fleet Management auctions generated $3.2 million for state agencies, DMS also said.
Also in 2025, the Florida Retirement System received accolades. The Public Pension Coordinating Council awarded it the Public Pensions Standards Award for Funding and Administration, DMS said.
“An independent, nationally recognized benchmarking report found that the Florida Retirement System ranks first in cost efficiency amongst all other peers and that First Contact Resolution and Feedback drove a 13% increase in member service scores,” DMS said.
The state’s Division of Retirement updated its online retirement application so it “displays real-time, dynamic estimates and allows for electronic file uploads, reducing paperwork, and expediting the process,” DMS added.
The Florida Digital Service (FLDS) led 33 exercises for state agencies, according to the DMS press release.
“Using a cyber range that replicated real-world attack scenarios, these sessions enabled agency security teams to practice incident response, coordination, and defensive strategies in a risk-free environment,” DMS said in the press release. “FLDS and Departmental Purchasing procured over 25 software solutions for the State of Florida Local Government Cybersecurity Grant Program, distributing $15 million in licenses that strengthen local security postures and provide enhanced threat intelligence.”
