The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is attacking U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna following a Wall Street Journal report that federal regulators are investigating allegations involving advance knowledge of President Donald Trump’s 2024 running-mate selection.
The Journal reported that Luna told associates during Summer 2024 that she knew Trump would select JD Vance as Vice President. According to The Wall Street Journal, Luna passed the information to conservative influencer Rogan O’Handley so he could place a winning wager on the prediction market Polymarket.
The DCCC pounced on the report Monday with a news release stating the allegations are evidence that Luna and her political allies use insider access to benefit themselves.
“While Florida families are working harder than ever just to keep up with rising costs, Anna Paulina Luna is helping herself and her Washington insider allies cash in,” DCCC Spokesperson Anna Elsasser wrote in the news release.
“It’s the same out-of-touch, self-serving politics Floridians are tired of from Luna. Floridians deserve a representative who works for them — not one who treats public office like a personal opportunity.”
The WSJ report noted the situation is a part of a larger Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) investigation into prediction market betting among Washington insiders, not Luna specifically. The outlet noted that an investigation does not necessarily indicate wrongdoing, and that Luna and O’Handley have denied the claim.
“I am honored the WSJ thinks I am telepathic but unfortunately I am not,” Luna told the Journal, adding that she would continue advocating against insider trading.
A Luna spokesperson told the WSJ that the Congresswoman has filed a criminal complaint with the CFTC alleging that someone knowingly submitted false information to the agency.
