It’s been a strong 10-week summer debut for the new Cotswolds Designer Outlet with the UK’s only major new retail opening in 2025 “becoming a runaway success”, its operator Multi Realm said.

With two further brands now open [make-up and beauty retailer Cosmetics Company Store and jewellery specialist Chapelle], the scheme is seeing sales “significantly exceeding trading expectations”.

Christine Grace, leasing director at operator Multi Realm, added: “These new additions to the line-up have been so well received and given the scheme a late summer boost which is perfect timing for the imminent gift-giving season. I’m delighted to say this now leaves just one unit to fill and we are already in advanced discussions with our preferred  brands, thanks to such a successful launch and strong appeal of the centre.”

With planning consent already in place, it said discussions for the 50,000 sq ft second phase have already begun, which would see a further 20 brands at the development. Planning permission was also recently secured for the provision and relocation of over 600 car parking spaces.

Centre manager Adrian Field added: “We have witnessed a very strong endorsement of physical retailing with the centre already trading well above our business plan expectations. With impressive trading densities, many are now requiring increased stock packages, more frequent deliveries and recruitment of more staff.

“We purposely launched the scheme with a ‘preview mentality’ in the knowledge that we would not be the finished article from day one, but most of the brands here exceeded their sales targets over the summer by a considerable margin.”
