Congressman Tim Burchett says he thinks the country needs a special prosecutor to step in and handle the Jeffrey Epstein files … ’cause we need to balance public information with protecting victims.
We spoke with the representative from Tennessee on “TMZ Live” about Donald Trump‘s reaction to people demanding the release of the Epstein files … and, Burchett says he doesn’t understand why the prez is being so cagey.

Like several conservatives we’ve spoken to, Congressman Burchett makes it clear questions about Epstein aren’t going away … and, there needs to be some kind of compromise here to release at least some of the information to the public.
While it’s not completely clear what a compromise might look like, Burchett thinks a special prosecutor could help find the line between public disclosure and protecting victims of Epstein’s crimes.
Burchett is worried people without law degrees — like himself, he points out — might see a flight manifest and assume the worst … instead of understanding the intricacies of Epstein’s interactions with notable individuals. Burchett wants justice, but he’s not looking to ruin anyone’s life.
As for the power President Trump could wield — including supporting primary challengers — if politicians don’t acquiesce and turn down the volume on the whole thing … Burchett says that doesn’t matter to him. There’s only one higher power he’s beholden to.
Trump’s bashed people — including his onw supporters — for focusing on the Epstein files, after he promised to release them while running for president … and even had right-wing influencers appear in photo-ops with binders bearing Epstein’s name back in February.
He’s told them they’re falling for liberal hoaxes … but, many don’t care and are telling Trump to put up the files or shut up.
Sounds like Burchett’s not pushing for an immediate dump of all the details … but, he’s certainly looking for the Department of Justice to show some progress!

Prince’s Past Collaborator Hospitalized
… After Multi-Unit Apartment Fire

Soul singer Alexander O’Neal — who once worked with Prince — was rushed to the hospital via ambulance early Friday morning with his wife, Cynthia, after a blaze broke out in their apartment complex, TMZ can confirm.
A spokesperson for the city of Burnsville, Minnesota tells TMZ there was a fire reported at the Willoway Apartments at 1:15 in the morning … and other nearby fire departments and public safety teams responded to bring the fire under control.
Only 2 individuals were brought to the hospital, while another person was treated and released at the scene, we’re told. A family member confirmed Cynthia and Alexander were both treated at a local hospital, but declined to share their condition.
Four units in the building were deemed unfit after the fire swept through, while all other residents were allowed to return. The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
Alexander was hired by Prince in the 1980s as the lead singer of his side project The Time, but he was fired before the band released any projects. Morris Day famously led the group following Alexander’s firing. We recently broke the news Jellybean Johnson — a founding member of The Time — died unexpectedly.
Alexander went on to have a successful solo career, producing hits such as “Wherever You Will Go” and “Never Knew Love Like This.”

Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau are taking their globe-trotting romance to social media, where they’ve now gone Instagram official!
The famous singer posted a series of lovey-dovey photos with the former Canadian Prime Minister, showing them as a happy couple during a recent trip to Japan. No real explanation is needed here … just check out the cute pics.
Katy also uploaded a video that captured her and Justin chowing down while staring deeply into each other’s eyes. Another clip showed the couple from behind staring at what appears to be a piece of art depicting outer space.
In the caption, Katy wrote … “Tokyo times on tour and more ( ◠‿◠ ) 🎄🍣🐡🥞💐☃️♥️.”
Katy flew to Japan this week as part of her “Lifetimes” tour, and Justin tagged along … during their visit, they met with former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko, posing for photos together next to a Christmas tree.
