Chanel has wrapped up its main Paris flagship like a Christmas gift, where a giant tweed knots plays with multiple design codes of the French fashion label.

Throughout the festive season, the facade of the emblematic Chanel boutique at 19, rue Cambon will be adorned with a light installation representing the knot dear to the house.

Codes and emblematic elements like tweed, the pearly jewel button, and the double beaded C which adorn the ribbon sparkle into the heart of winter nights. Dressed in black, white, and gold, the iconic colours of the house, the boutique is transformed into a monumental present, designed to suggest “the enchantment that is revealed behind its walls and expressing wishes for the year to come,” the house explained in a release.

Codes invented by founder Gabrielle Chanel mingle with symbols of the season. Stars and pearls, windmills, and moving double Cs evolve in a palette of red, silver, and gold, punctuated by the emblematic Chanel black and a touch of blue.

A starry constellation evokes the golden headboard of Gabrielle Chanel’s Mediterranean villa, La Pausa, which has been acquired by the house and is currently being extensively restored. While a red and gold spiral recalls the mirrored Art Deco staircase at 31 rue Cambon, the location of the house’s atelier.

Chanel is privately owned by the billionaire brothers Alain and Gerard Wertheimer whose fortunes are estimated at about $43 billion each, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

The company, founded in Paris but headquartered in London, reports its financial performance once a year. Revenue fell 4.3% to $18.7 billion in 2024, as the brand rode out the luxury downturn better than many of its rivals.
