The emails surfaced as part of released documents in the Jeffrey Epstein file.
There seems to be a dark cloud hanging over the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics. The construction of the Milan arena where hockey games will take place has not been finished. Infrastructure is not complete. The International Olympic Committee has been struggling with the question of how to deal with athletes from Russia and Belarus and how to present those countries’ national teams. The athletes will compete as neutrals. Russia invaded Ukraine during the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics which violated some sort of Olympics Truce. But now there is a major public relations problem which has to do with the next Olympic event in Los Angeles in 2028. Casey Wasserman, the chairman of the organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, is in the Epstein files. That is not a good look for the International Olympic Committee or the 2028 Los Angeles games. Wasserman has made an apology which seems to come right out of the Crisis Management 101 apology handbook.
“I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell which took place over two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light,” Wasserman said in a statement. The emails to Maxwell were included among millions of newly released pages from the Epstein files made public by the United States Justice Department on January 30th. Wasserman said he had “never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.” He added, “As is well documented, I went on a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 on the Epstein plane. I am terribly sorry for having any association with either of them.” The exchanges between Wasserman and Maxwell in 2008 were intimate. Wasserman went on a 2002 AIDS research fact-finding tour of Africa. The IOC now has a Wasserman problem.
