Republican gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds has now surpassed $90 million in fundraising, including $23 million in the last three months.
The sitting Congressman announced the totals, a further sign of dominance among the GOP Republican field. The total fundraising, which includes $10 million in his official campaign account and another $80 million through the Friends of Byron Donalds political committee, comes from 37,000 donors.
“While other candidates run on fumes, Byron Donalds is running full steam ahead,” said Ryan Smith, Chief Strategist for the Donalds campaign. “Byron is the clear conservative choice to lead Republicans into the General Election and crush the Democrats and their radical, unaffordable agenda.”
Donalds, a Naples Republican, announced his fundraising the same day the campaign unrolled endorsements from incoming Florida Senate President Jim Boyd and Florida House Speaker-designate Sam Garrison, and after Attorney General James Uthmeier, a former Chief of Staff to Gov. Ron DeSantis, also announced his support.
Of course, Donalds already boasts a critical endorsement from President Donald Trump, who urged the Congressman to enter the race.
DeSantis cannot seek re-election because of term limits, making this an open seat for the first time in eight years.
Donalds currently faces 10 other GOP Primary opponents for the Republican nomination, including Lt. Gov. Jay Collins, investment manager James Fishback and former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner. Donalds has taken some criticism from opponents for declining to participate in any Primary debates planned so far, but continues to hold a major lead in polls.
The GOP front-runner has also started spending significantly, including announcing a $20 million statewide ad buy on television and digital platforms. That will put two new ads in front of voters throughout Florida. The campaign also said it has already knocked on more than 180,000 doors.
The GOP Primary is scheduled for Aug. 18 and will determine the GOP nominee that advances to the General Election in November.
