Buccaneers keep finding diamonds in the rough

Young Receivers Making Noise in Tampa Bay

Training camp has given Tampa Bay a clear look at its next wave of offensive talent, and wide receiver Ted Hurst III is quickly becoming one of the most intriguing names. Coaches see him stacking strong days, noting that his confidence grows as he makes more plays and grasps the offense. With several receivers nicked up, Hurst is taking full advantage of extra reps, showing the twitch and length that Jake Browning calls a rare combination.

For a young receiver, camp is often about survival. Browning compared Hurst’s early flashes to what he once saw from Justin Jefferson in Minnesota, pointing out that the rookie’s upside becomes clearer each day he settles into the rhythm of NFL practices.

Bauer Sharp Adjusting Quickly to Zac Robinson’s Offense

Tight end Bauer Sharp is also earning praise as he adapts to Zac Robinson’s scheme. Coaches highlight his athleticism, willingness to block, and strong route running. Sharp says his first NFL game was “super fun” and that he’s focused on mastering the little details that elevate a rookie’s game. His LSU background prepared him for motion‑heavy concepts, but the complexity of an NFL playbook is still a major step up.

Sharp’s mindset is simple: make the most of every snap, whether catching passes from Baker Mayfield or Jake Browning. His daily battles with Rueben Bain Jr. and Yaya Diaby are sharpening his technique and confidence.

Depth Chart Battles Define This Camp

Nearly every position group features competition. The backup quarterback job remains open, with Browning, Jalon Daniels, and Connor Bazelak all in the mix. Return duties are also wide open, with coaches evaluating whether a running back or receiver best fits each role. Kenny Gainwell is a possibility, and Kam Johnson’s special teams value keeps him in the conversation.

On defense, Rueben Bain Jr.’s relentless work ethic stands out, while Yaya Diaby is having a strong camp in both pass rush and run support. Injuries have limited some players, but the coaching staff emphasizes that roster spots remain up for grabs.
