Buccaneers fall in overtime to Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh Stuns Tampa Bay with Furious Fourth Quarter Rally

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers suffered a devastating defeat at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday, October 18, 2026. Tampa Bay held a commanding thirteen-point advantage midway through the second half, leading 16-3, before the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers ignited a massive late-game comeback. Pittsburgh dominated the closing stretches of regulation and the extra period, outscoring the home squad twenty-three to three over that span to claim a 26-19 overtime triumph.

Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers spearheaded the offensive turnaround by passing for 253 yards and two touchdowns on the afternoon. Rodgers found wide receiver DK Metcalf eleven times for ninety-three yards, while receiver Germie Bernard also caught eleven passes for eighty-seven yards. The second-half surge stunned the home crowd in Tampa as the Buccaneers saw another double-digit lead vanish, sending their season record down to a disappointing 1-5.

Drama Unfolds in Late Regulation and Overtime Thriller

The final two minutes of regulation produced non-stop chaos on the gridiron. Pittsburgh tied the game at 16-16 when veteran kicker Chris Boswell booted a 58-yard field goal with 1:55 remaining. Moments later, former Buccaneers defensive back Jamel Dean intercepted Tampa Bay quarterback Jalon Daniels and returned the ball deep inside the red zone to the three-yard line. Boswell then converted a short 20-yard field goal with 1:21 left to give Pittsburgh a 19-16 lead.

Tampa Bay refused to quit in the dying seconds of regulation. Daniels connected with receiver Ted Hurst III on multiple big pass completions to push the offense into scoring territory. Kicker Chase McLaughlin drilled a clutch 53-yard field goal with just eight seconds left on the clock, tying the contest 19-19 and forcing overtime.

Steelers Defense and Rodgers Execute Final Strike

Pittsburgh won the coin toss and seized complete control of the extra session. Rodgers systematically marched the offense seventy yards downfield on a methodical twelve-play drive that consumed six minutes and forty-five seconds. The drive culminated in a six-yard touchdown pass from Rodgers to Bernard, putting Pittsburgh back on top 26-19.

Tampa Bay took the field needing a touchdown to keep their hopes alive, but the Pittsburgh pass rush proved insurmountable. The Steelers defense finished the game with five sacks and two interceptions against Daniels. Defensive back Jalen Ramsey delivered the final blow by sacking Daniels on fourth down, forcing a turnover on downs and sealing the victory for Pittsburgh.

The win elevates the Steelers to 4-2 as they prepare to travel across the Atlantic Ocean to face the New Orleans Saints in France on October 25. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers must regroup quickly from their fourth straight home loss as they head on the road to play the Carolina Panthers next weekend.
