The European Commission on Wednesday gave the German online fashion retailer Zalando the green light to take full control of its German rival About You after concluding that the deal will not have a negative impact on the European economic area.

After its review, the EU executive concluded that the transaction does not raise competition concerns due to its “limited impact” on the markets in which the two companies involved operate, given that there are “a large number of alternatives” available to customers in the sector.
The file, which was notified to Brussels last May, has been examined under the simplified procedure applied to less problematic cases.
