Bro’s BRISnet Play of the Day heads to Aqueduct

Okay, so if any horses have breeding for running in frigid temperatures, this would be a good time to figure that out. Have not seen that stat yet in any prep work I have done so far! But we will be heading to Aqueduct for our Bro’s BRISnet Play of the Day.

Aqueduct Race 9 Overview

Race 9 will be set for the gates to spring open at 4:13 EST, with a field of 13 runners ready to go. A nice size field for any track, and especially welcome at The Big A. We have the tricky distance of 7 Furlongs on the dirt, a Starter Allowance 50K race.

Horse Analysis and BRISnet Angles

The BRISnet bias for this race is very strong for a horse to go gate to wire, and that has me leaning on the #7 Shadow Surge 5-1. This runner is just 1 of 2 horses in the race with the BRISnet “E” designation. The other runner is the #9 Dormello 8-1. I can see both runners getting out, but the late pace figure for #7 Shadow Surge gives this horse the edge to pull ahead in the final furlong, and hold off any late charges from the rest of the field.

Runner is also the #1 Prime Power per BRISnet, another check mark in my book. Only concerns would be the possibility of a “bounce” after posting such a big jump in his BSF (+38), and I spy no recent published workouts. I have faith that trainer Jaime Ness would not put this runner in the race unless he was sound and ready to run.
