Review of Breeders’ Cup and Preview of Saturday 11/7/26 at Belmont
The Breeders Cup 2026 is now in the books, there were highs and lows, as is the case in horse racing. We took a look at the five races on Future Stars Friday, with some of the best juvenile runners lining up to show their stuff. Then that was followed up by Championship Saturday which had nine races, capped off by the Breeders Cup Classic.
Here are the highlights of our selections on both days.
Future Stars Friday
Race 6 – Juvenile Turf Sprint
The #10 Harper’s Corner gave it a good run, but ultimately was run down at the finish line by the #3 Libertango, who was the post time favorite, and both runners were listed in our top three picks. Harpers Corner was our longshot play of the day, and finished a well beaten 8th.
Race 7 – Juvenile Fillies
Our top pick #10 Emphatic took the race to the rest of the field and won going away. She will be a horse to follow, as we start to look ahead to the Kentucky Oaks. Our longshot play #8 Manuka Honey was a long way back in third.
Race 8- Juvenile Fillies Turf
This was our best bet of the day, not our best value, but certainly the most likely winner of the day; when #9 Sun Goddess lived up to her billing as promised by trainer Aiden O’Brien.
Race 9 – Juvenile
Our top choice scratched, so we were left with two runners the #6 American History, and the #5 Hughes, who looked like a horse to keep an eye on as we get closer to the 1st Saturday in May. Hughes won impressively for trainer Bob Baffert. The exacta was completed by our top 2 picks.
Race 10 – Juvenile Turf
The very chalky day concluded with the highest win payout of the day in the Breeders Cup races, when the #4 Hafner won one for the Euro’s and paid $9.46 for the win. Our top choices finished second and third with #10 Folsom Blues and #2 Avec Toi rounded out the trifecta. We did not have the winner Hafner in our top three choices.
Championship Saturday
Rather than go through all nine races, we will point out the races where we landed correctly on our feet, and the ones we did not.
Race 5 – Turf Sprint
The #3 Bacio was ultra fast and put this field to sleep, as our top choice in the race. Our other choice in our top 3, the #10 Cy Fair ran a very good race and rounded out the exacta.
Race 7 – Filly and Mare Turf
The winner #5 Kathrynmarissa was another win for the USA, as jockey Jose Ortiz guided this runner masterfully to the wire. This was the top finisher in our top 3 choices in this race.
Races 10 and 12 / The Distaff and The Classic
We loved #2 Nitrogen in the Distaff, and she came through with flying colors. In the Classic, we went with longshot #8 Napoleon Solo, who came through for us in the past, but did have the class that #2 Sovereignty demonstrated, and he will now be a highly sought after stud. Well deserved and congratulations to the connections.
We listened to our readers, and adjusted our format and delivery, and we think it paid off. Moving forward we plan to keep this style, and include some additional bets when warranted. We will look at Belmont next week for Saturday’s races, which feature some nice stakes races on the card. We will travel to other tracks, as the races will now soon turn attention to next year, and the Kentucky Oaks and Derby. So stay tuned and thanks for getting on board. As we always say, bet smart, cheer hard, fast horse can lead to serious fun and in the end, Let ‘em Run.
