Hollywood and the world are reeling after the shocking deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner, and now some of their closest friends — Billy Crystal, Larry David, Martin Short, Albert Brooks, and more — are honoring the couple in an emotional personal joint statement.
The comedy icons, who shared decades of friendship and creative history with the Reiner’s, spoke to The Associated Press, praising Rob’s extraordinary career and the artistic lineage he carried forward.
“Absorbing all he had learned from his father Carl and his mentor Norman Lear, Rob Reiner not only was a great comic actor, he became a master story teller. There is no other director who has his range. From comedy to drama to ‘mockumentary’ to documentary he was always at the top of his game. He charmed audiences. They trusted him. They lined up to see his films,” the group said in their statement.
They went on to highlight his work as a filmmaker, noting the unique fingerprint he brought to projects ranging from “A Few Good Men” to “When Harry Met Sally” to “The Princess Bride.”
“His comedic touch was beyond compare, his love of getting the music of the dialogue just right, and his sharpening of the edge of a drama was simply elegant,” the statement said.

We broke the story … Rob and Michele were found dead in their Brentwood home Sunday. Nick was charged Tuesday with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his famous parents. Nick faces the possibility of life in prison without parole or the death penalty if convicted on all counts.
The comedy legends say the couple’s impact — on film, culture, and on those who loved them will be felt forever. “They lined up to see his films…” their statement reads. “He was always at the top of his game.”

As we’ve reported … Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman says Nick faces the possibility of life in prison without parole … or the death penalty … if convicted on all counts.
Nick’s being held without bail and is on suicide watch … and he’s hired powerhouse defense attorney Alan Jackson. Nick was scheduled to be in court Tuesday, but he couldn’t get medical clearance in time.

Dog Breeder Getting Death Threats
For Ear Cropping Pup

Simone Biles‘ dog breeder is receiving a ton of backlash for cropping her new Doberman Pinscher’s ears and docking its tail … telling TMZ Sports he’s gotten death threats over something he says is “common practice.”
We spoke with the owner of Regal Empire Dobermans after fans and PETA slammed Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, for buying a puppy that underwent the procedures.
William Regal is also dealing with the blowback … telling us people have made seriously menacing comments toward him, and have attempted to have his company shut down.
“This is a procedure done by licensed veterinarians in the U.S.,” Regal said. “It’s common practice.”
Regal also explained the reasoning behind the adjustment … stating a Doberman’s long tail can break and cause significant pain. He added ear cropping is done to prevent medical issues like hematoma, and it can reduce the risk of injury if attacked by other dogs.
Regal — who’s been in the breeding business for 10 years — said he doesn’t want to beef with PETA or critics of the practice …. but feels the threats against him and the disrespect shown toward the Olympic legend and NFL player have gone too far.
He added that Biles simply wanted a dog for protection.
“She’s done nothing wrong,” Regal said, “I haven’t done anything wrong either.”
12:31 PM PT — Puka Nacua was just hit with a hefty punishment for criticizing refs this week … as he was just fined $25,000 over the controversial comments.
Another day, and Puka Nucua is back in hot water … this time after taking a shot at the referees on social media after the Rams’ 38-37 loss on Thursday Night Football, only to quickly delete the post!
The Rams’ star receiver — who had a huge game on the field — posted the message on X just a few minutes after his Rams squad lost to the Seahawks on a two-point conversion in overtime, which didn’t come without controversy thanks to a ruling on the play that resulted in points for Seattle.
“Can you say I was wrong. Appreciate you stripes for your contribution. Lol.” Puka wrote, referencing something he recently said during his stream with Adin Ross, where he accused refs of making calls simply to get some TV airtime.
Fans attempted to help Nacua after he hit send, pleading with him to take the post down … “Delete before you get fined!”
While Puka didn’t specify he was referring to the two-point conversion controversy, it seems likely that was the play that irked him.
Nacua ultimately took the advice of fans who told him to remove the post (we’ll see if he avoids the fine), and he explained why he said what he said.
“Just a moment of frustration,” Nacua said.

The media also asked Rams head coach Sean McVay about the since-deleted post during his post-game media sesh, and it was obvious he wasn’t yet in the know.
“I can’t answer questions about something that I’m not aware of,” McVay said. “I have to have more information before I answer any of those kinds of questions.”

Of course, the ref controversy comes after Nacua was accused of imitating an anti-Semitic dance during the Ross and N3on stream, which he apologized for, saying he had no idea he was doing anything wrong.
Off the field, it’s been a crazy week. On it, Puka was unstoppable … catching 12 passes for 225 yards and 2 touchdowns in the loss.
