Ashley Moody at 50% in poll of potential November matchup against Alex Vindman

U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody’s proven success at the statewide level may translate to her first Senate race.

A poll from Echelon Insights shows Moody, a Plant City Republican appointed to her current role last year by Gov. Ron DeSantis, at the key 50% threshold against Democrat Alex Vindman. Vindman has 43% support.

Moody’s support seems more committed than Vindman’s overall, at least in this survey, with 34% of respondents definitely planning to vote for her, as opposed to 26% fully committed to Vindman.

Vindman, a former National Security Council whistleblower whose testimony contributed to the first impeachment of President Donald Trump, has proven to be a competent fundraiser. He announced raising $8.2 million in the first quarter of 2026. He closed the quarter with $6.2 million in cash on hand.

Moody has raised more than $8.4 million this cycle, with $2.6 million in Q1. Her campaign closed March with more than $7.1 million cash on hand. During her previous two elections as Florida Attorney General, she was the top vote-getter in the state, and in years where DeSantis was on the ballot.

Vindman will face at least one credible opponent in August’s Primary. State Rep. Angie Nixon of Jacksonville is also running.

Though Nixon had less than $200,000 on hand as of the report through March 31, the newcomer to Florida politics nonetheless will have to prove himself to Democrats in the state before advancing to the General Election.
