Alex Vindman raises more than $8M in first quarter to challenge Ashley Moody

Democrat Alex Vindman has raised more than $8 million since launching his campaign to unseat U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody.

His Alex Vindman for Florida campaign committee announced raising $8.2 million in the first quarter of 2026. He closed the quarter with $6.2 million in cash on hand.

That exceeds the nearly $5.8 million raised over the course of 2025 by Moody, who has yet to announce first-quarter fundraising totals for the new year.

Vindman in a statement said the significant level of fundraising shows a hunger for change among Florida voters.

“Floridians are being crushed by high costs for gas, groceries, and housing — and they’re sick and tired of the corruption by career politicians like Ashley Moody who enable all of it,” Vindman said.

“That’s why Floridians are stepping up and supporting our campaign in record numbers, because they’re being ignored by Ashley Moody and are ready for leadership that will put them first.”

The Vindman campaign plans to “use this early surge to ramp up organizing, invest in voter outreach, and take its message directly to voters across Florida.”

Vindman launched his campaign on Jan. 27.

Since then, his campaign said it has built primarily grassroots support for the campaign, with 99% of donations coming from small donors. The average donation came in at $39.44 for the quarter.

Vindman also said 27,600 donations had come in from donors based in Florida. Full reporting will become available when a full report is filed to the Federal Election Commission.

The former National Security Council whistleblower, whose testimony contributed to the first impeachment of President Donald Trump, has characterized Moody as an enabler of the Republican President.

Moody was appointed to her Senate seat by Gov. Ron DeSantis last year to fill a seat vacated by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. She must stand for election this year to determine who serves the final two years of Rubio’s term.

Vindman faces other Democrats including state Rep. Angie Nixon in a Primary.
