Alan Suskey, a prominent lobbyist who serves as Executive Vice President of Shumaker Advisors, has been named a board member for Military Community Youth Ministries (MCYM), a global ministry that works to support military children.
Suskey’s connection to MCYM runs deep. He has supported the organization for more than two decades, beginning during his own military service in Germany in the early 2000s.
“As someone whose life has been shaped by military service, I have seen firsthand the challenges and opportunities facing military families,” Suskey said. “MCYM plays a critical role in providing stability, mentorship, and community for military teens across the globe. I am honored to serve on the Board and support its mission.”
Suskey is a U.S. Army veteran who served eight years, including in the initial Operation Iraqi Freedom invasion. He served two tours in Baghdad. Suskey also held several leadership roles, including as a military police noncommissioned officer training first responders and leading operations. Throughout his service, Suskey earned eight Army Commendation Medals and the Valorous Unit Award. He was named U.S. Army Europe Soldier of the Year in 2002.
Established in 1980, MCYM was a response to military leaders and chaplains who had sought a dedicated youth ministry to serve the needs of military families stationed across the globe.
“Alan’s leadership, service, and longstanding connection to MCYM make him an exceptional addition to the Board,” MCYM President Phil Alfrey said. “His passion for supporting military families and his professional expertise will be invaluable as we continue to expand our impact.”
Suskey is an eighth-generation Floridian and trusted lobbyist representing various clients, including research institutes, tech companies and small businesses. Additionally, he advises clients at the state and federal level and works with policymakers on Capitol Hill and in Tallahassee.
