Washington D.C. Plane Crash Urgent Air Traffic Audio Warning Moments Before Deadly Collision
Published
Extremely tense audio reveals air traffic controllers warned the U.S. Army helicopter that fatally crashed into an American Airlines passenger plane in Washington D.C. Wednesday night moments before the catastrophe.
With escalating urgency, the control tower asks … “PAT25, do you have the CRJ in sight?” and instructs the military Black Hawk helicopter to “pass behind” the aircraft. The warning came about 30 seconds before American Airlines Flight 5342 — a CRJ 700 — collided with the chopper in mid-air near Reagan Washington National Airport.
The collision sent both aircraft crashing into the icy Potomac River … with no survivors expected. There were 64 people on the American Airlines plane … including four crew members. Three soldiers were on board the Black Hawk helicopter. At least 30 bodies have been pulled from the river, and the rescue mission is still underway.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says both flight paths for the aircraft were usual and standard … “something went wrong.”
Eyewitnesses have shared how shocked the area is by the disaster … with many noting the stunning explosion happened in an instant and momentarily lit up the sky.
The American Airlines flight took off from Wichita, Kansas Wednesday night and was descending to Reagan National when it was tragically hit. Among the passengers were U.S. Figure Skating team members, world champions and coaches.
American Airlines sources confirm to TMZ that the company is flying the victims’ family members out to D.C. for free … and will pay for lodging, food, and will help in any way possible as so many grapple with this devastating loss. They are also working with special care teams trained to handle crisis situations.

12:30 PM PT — The first image of Rihanna in court has finally been released … and, while many fans were hoping for a photograph, right now all they’re getting is a sketch.
A courtroom artist drew Rihanna … capturing her in the white top and earrings which we previously reported she was wearing.
The court’s currently on break for lunch after a contentious morning between A$AP Relli and A$AP Rocky‘s attorney Joe Tacopina … and, the intense energy in the room shows no sign of slowing down after lunch.
Rihanna’s standing by her man in court … arriving for the fourth day of A$AP Rocky’s trial in his assault case in a fashionable outfit.
The singer-songwriter’s sitting in the gallery in between Rocky’s mother and sister … wearing a button-up white top, skinny black tie, black work pants and black point pumps — accessorizing with a pair of big gold hoop earrings.

She’s letting her hair down, parting it to the right … looking at people when they talk — no mask and no glasses on in the court. Rocky arrived at the courthouse in an all-black suit this morning … but, he and RiRi appeared to pull up separately, just like they did yesterday. They did leave together on Wednesday though.
Rihanna’s apparently famished too … snacking on some kind of bar or brownie while waiting for proceedings to kick off. Unclear if she missed breakfast to get to the trial or if she’s stress eating — but, it’s definitely no Giorgio Baldi.

We’re told Rihanna looks more relaxed today than yesterday — it’s a much smaller crowd in the courtroom today — but, she’s also all business … not cracking a smile or giggling at jokes others in the room find amusing. No photogs have been able to get RiRi on camera so far.
Of course, we told you Rihanna planned to attend the trial this week … and, pulled up yesterday too — sitting in the front row of the gallery while A$AP Relli, the man accusing Rocky of shooting him, testified.
Rocky is facing two charges of assault with an automatic firearm — and, if convicted, Rocky faces up to 24 years in prison.

Joe Tacopina — Rocky’s defense attorney — has maintained Rocky couldn’t shoot Relli … ’cause the gun he had in his hand on the night of the alleged assault was actually a prop gun.
In court Thursday, Tacopina is expected to cross-examine Relli … though the judge began the hearing by asking the cameraman to turn off the camera filming the proceedings.
Super Bowl Sunday’s shaping up to be a touchdown for Ben Affleck — ’cause looks like he’s back in the game with The DunKings!
Peep these pics of Ben in L.A. Wednesday, pulling up with a Dunkin’ “DunKings” tracksuit in hand, and later slipping it on — basically doing everything but officially confirming he’s back for another sweet campaign.
To keep the Dunkin’ love flowing, Ben had his go-to cup of the good stuff in hand — and with a sweet $10-mil paycheck last year, it’s no surprise he seems all-in for another commercial.
If you need a refresher, Ben went full Dunkin’ last year in a 30-second Super Bowl ad, working the drive-thru in the bright orange trackies with Matt Damon and Tom Brady, AKA, “The DunKings.”
Oh, and let’s not forget Ben’s then-wife, J Lo, also made a cameo in the ad. So, who knows what kind of delicious surprises are in store if he makes his Super Bowl comeback this year!
