Associated Builders and Contractors Florida Gulf Coast Chapter has selected Jason Spears, a vice president and shareholder of Peninsular Mechanical Contractors, Inc., to serve as Chair of the board in 2026.
The ABC Florida Gulf Coast Chapter represents contractors, suppliers and industry partners across a 15-county region, and focuses on workforce training, industry advocacy and apprenticeship programs in multiple skilled trades.
Spears has worked in the commercial construction industry for about 20 years. He joined Peninsular Mechanical Contractors in 2009 and has remained a part of the company’s leadership during a period of sustained growth. He previously worked for JE Dunn Southeast in Atlanta and has held leadership roles within ABC at the local, state and national levels.
He succeeds Scott Cox, regional director for Pye-Barker Fire and Safety, who served as Chair in 2025. The chapter expanded to more than 650 member companies and continued to grow its apprenticeship and workforce development programs during Cox’s tenure.
“As our region grows, our industry must be prepared to meet the high demand for commercial construction and skilled labor,” Spears said. “ABC has built a strong foundation of advocacy and workforce training, and I look forward to serving our members and continuing that progress in 2026.”
Spears is also active in regional business and civic organizations. He served as Chair for the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Governors in 2024, and is a St. Petersburg Economic Development Corporation board member.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in construction management from the University of Florida and lives in St. Petersburg with his wife, Cassandra.
