Time flies when you’re super-busy. Can it be just a year on since Go Outdoor’s brand ambassador and TV star Helen Skelton officially opened the 125,000 sq-ft York (and Europe’s biggest) superstore?

The outdoors specialist said the store has become the brand’s best-performing flagship while also acting as a hub for the people of York, hosting community events and product launches.

It had no actual year-end sales numbers to report (although it did say the Go Outdoors York store is its fastest-ever to make £1 million in sales) but its associate director for Retail, Carl Harris, said: “Watching the York store thrive over the past year has been incredible. Not only have we created 72 jobs in York, but we have also been visited over 500,000 times by customers – over three-and-a-half times more than any other Go Outdoors store in the same time period.”

The store now sells over 380 brands, including Rab, adidas Terrex, Oakley and OEX, covering every outdoor activity. It is also home to the biggest Yeti, Weber, and Stanley stores in Europe, the most extensively ranged Garmin store in the UK, the UK’s first Jessops discovery store, and the only Dometic shop-in-shop concept nationwide, it said.
