10:50 AM PT — D’Angelo‘s family released a statement following his death … “The shining star of our family has dimmed his light for us in this life … After a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer, we are heartbroken to announce that Michael D’Angelo Archer, known to his fans around the world as D’Angelo, has been called home, departing this life today, October 14th, 2025. We are saddened that he can only leave dear memories with his family, but we are eternally grateful for the legacy of extraordinarily moving music he leaves behind. We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time but invite you all join us in mourning his passing while also celebrating the gift of song that he has left for the world.”
Grammy-winning R&B soul singer D’Angelo is dead from pancreatic cancer … TMZ has learned.
The “Brown Sugar” singer-songwriter died Tuesday morning in NYC … according to sources connected to his family and his former manager Kedar Massenburg. While D’Angelo had not been public about his cancer battle, we’re told he’d been in treatment for several months.
D’Angelo was a singular talent who collaborated with the likes of Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg and Q-Tip … after bursting onto the scene in 1995 with his solo debut album, “Brown Sugar.”
He won 4 Grammys, including Best R&B Album for “Voodoo” in 2001 and “Black Messiah” in 2016. He also won Best R&B Song in 2016 for “Really Love” and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for “Untitled (How Does It Feel).”
Even before the Grammy win, ‘How Does It Feel’ left an indelible imprint on music and the minds of school girls everywhere for its iconic video, which featured the singer alone against a blank, black background, appearing to be fully unclothed.

Last year, Raphael Saadiq told the “Rolling Stone Music Now” podcast D’Angelo was working on releasing a new album, saying, “He’s excited … He’s working on six pieces right now and he seems super excited.”
The singer is survived by 2 sons and a daughter. The mother of his first son was singer Angie Stone … who died tragically this year in a car accident.
D’Angelo was 51.

The Philadelphia Flyers have suspended radio play-by-play broadcaster Thomas Saunders for making an inappropriate comment while on the airwaves … when a hot mic picked up a joke about oral sex.
It all went down during the third period of the Flyers’ 5-3 loss Thursday night. After an icing call, Saunders threw the broadcast to a commercial break … the only problem was it didn’t happen.
Seemingly, as someone in the booth went down to the floor, Saunders was heard saying, “While you’re down there, would ya mind blowing me?”
“I think we’re still on the air, Tim,” another person said.
Based on the boisterous laugh he let out, it sounded as if Saunders thought he was joking, before realizing it wasn’t April Fool’s Day.
“No we’re not, are we?” Saunders asked.
Unfortunately for him … they were — and his bosses were listening.
On Friday, the Flyers confirmed they were aware of the incident and announced that the radio network and the team would be issuing the suspension.
“These remarks do not reflect the standards of conduct or values we expect from anyone associated with our organization,” the Flyers said.
“Effective immediately, the Flyers, alongside our radio partners 97.5 The Fanatic, have issued a two-game suspension while we address this matter with all parties involved.”

Being caught on hot mics is nothing new, but this incident is small potatoes compared to the Thom Brennaman incident from the 2020 MLB season … when he used a homophobic slur live on air.
Saunders will miss the Flyers’ next two games against the New York Rangers and the Vancouver Canucks … and will be eligible to return when Philly takes on the Blackhawks in Chicago.
Here’s hoping he keeps it PG when the headset’s on moving forward … just in case.

Death and taxes are unavoidable, but Britney Spears is trying to get out of making a $600,000 payment to the IRS … and she says the tax man is grossly mistaken.
According to new legal docs, obtained by TMZ, the IRS sent Britney a Notice of Deficiency for the tax year ending 2021, claiming she owes over $600K.
Britney is disputing the figure … and she filed her own legal response claiming the IRS miscalculated and that she doesn’t actually owe the tax man so much as a dime.
In her filing, obtained by TMZ, Britney says the IRS made an error in adjusting her share of income from Shiloh Standing Inc. in the amount of $1,390,922.
Shiloh Standing, Inc. is reportedly a company started by Britney’s father, Jamie Spears, shortly after the creation of her conservatorship.
Britney also claims the IRS made another error in adjusting her deductions from her annual income tax return in the amount of $334,372.
What’s more, Britney claims the IRS messed up when they added a penalty in the amount of $120,143.80.
In her petition, Britney says the IRS is wrong to claim she underpaid and has the receipts to prove it … insisting she doesn’t owe Uncle Sam any more money from 2021.
Britney wants the court to back up her claims and determine there’s no deficiency in her original filing.

Model Had Tooth Removed Day After Giving Birth

Elsie Hewitt had a baby and lost a tooth in a whirlwind 48-hour timespan … according to her Instagram stories shared Thursday.
The 29-year-old model posted a picture of her bandaged and swollen face along with the text, “Who else had to get a wisdom tooth removed directly from hospital the day after they gave birth?”
As you know, she and boyfriend Pete Davidson welcomed their daughter, Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson, on December 12.
The new addition made her Instagram debut Thursday when Elsie shared photos of the little one, calling her “my best work yet.”
Elsie continued, “I am absolutely overflowing with love and gratitude and disbelief.” As for Pete, he wrote in the same caption, “wu tang forever. – pete”
There’s no official word on whether the wisdom tooth removal was a surprise to Elsie or not, but according to Healthline, hormonal changes during pregnancy can lead to gingivitis and toothaches … so, odds are Elsie’s not alone! Who knew???
