‘Going Away’ After Passing Out Onstage

Lola Young is taking an extended break from the spotlight after she passed out during a performance over the weekend.
The “Messy” hitmaker announced on Instagram Tuesday she will be “going away for a while” and that all her shows will be canceled for the foreseeable future. She did not go into further detail about where exactly she will be going during this performance hiatus.
She thanked fans for their support but also apologized in her announcement, pleading … “I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger.”
As we reported, Lola fainted on her back in the middle of her set at Saturday’s All Things Go Music Festival in New York City. She hopped on the ‘gram later that evening to let people know she was “doing okay.”
Just a day prior, she abruptly canceled her appearance at Audacy’s We Can Survive concert … with her manager, Nick Shymansky, hinting it had something to do with her mental health.
In a post to social media, he wrote … “Lola is very open about her mental health and there are very occasionally days where myself and my team have to take protective measures to keep her safe.”
He did not elaborate on her condition and has not replied to TMZ’s numerous requests for comment.
Regardless, we are wishing Lola a speedy recovery … and we look forward to seeing her better than ever!

The Backstreet Boys made the “right decision” not signing with Shaquille O’Neal back in the day … so says AJ McLean, who tells TMZ Sports while he adores the NBA legend — he doubts they’d have the same success had they inked a deal with him.
It’s a wild story, but 100% true — both BSB and *NSYNC used Shaq’s Orlando studio to record some of their earliest music when he was a member of the Magic in the ’90s … and O’Neal has openly expressed his regret over not pouncing on the opportunity to work with the boy bands in an official capacity.
We caught up with AJ recently … and asked a good ol’ “what if?”
Safe to say both groups did just fine … and AJ wondered how things would have looked had they joined forces with the Hall of Famer — and if they’d still be one of the most iconic groups to ever grab the mic.

“No disrespect to Shaq, because I love him to death, but don’t think we’d be where we are today necessarily,” he said.
AJ noted everything Shaq touches turns to gold off the court, as the big man’s got an extensive and lucrative business portfolio … but this is one that all worked out in the end.
“I think we might have made the right decision,” AJ added.
It’s interesting … ’cause *NSYNC member Lance Bass told us a few years back he wishes Shaq would’ve been part of their team … even though he wouldn’t have been able to box out Lou Pearlman entirely.
But considering BSB is STILL selling out shows left and right … yeah, they’re good.
