Shanghai to host Intertextile, Chic and Yarn Expo in September

Shanghai’s NECC will host Intertextile, Chic, and Yarn Expo from Sept. 2–4, bringing together over 5,000 exhibitors and tens of thousands of visitors from across global textile and apparel markets.

Intertextile

Intertextile is expected to welcome around 4,000 exhibitors from across China, Asia, and beyond, through its Salon Europe space. The event, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year, drew 95,000 visitors from 131 countries during its March 2025 edition.

For the autumn 2025 session, Intertextile will once again be held alongside Yarn Expo, which has confirmed the participation of 500 yarn and fiber exhibitors.

Chic Shanghai

Chic, the leading Chinese apparel trade fair, has announced 800 exhibitors for this spring-summer 2026 edition. Organizers expect around 60,000 visitors, with a dedicated PH Value section focusing on knitwear. The previous March edition of Chic attracted 165,000 visitors, 55% of whom were first-time attendees.

Together, these shows position themselves as the largest combined textile and clothing event in China. This year’s edition will take place in a particularly charged context: ongoing tariff disputes between Beijing and Washington have disrupted trade flows and created uncertainty for manufacturers on both sides.

Trade tensions reshape exports

China initially threatened tariffs of up to 145% on US goods, prompting Donald Trump to scale back his proposed tariff on Chinese textiles from 125% to 30%. In return, Beijing pledged to limit its tax on US products to 10%.

Despite the tensions, Chinese textile and clothing exports remain resilient. First-quarter data show that declining US orders have already been offset by stronger demand from other markets, particularly the European Union, Japan, and South Korea.
