Dr. Phil says there’s a simple solution for getting Americans back into healthy eating habits … and it’s all about grocery shopping.
The TV doctor joined us on “TMZ Live” Wednesday and he told us how folks can start eating healthier at home, without breaking the bank.
Dr. Phil says it’s important to eat fresh, non-processed foods … and while buying these items means longer cooking and preparation times for meals at home, he tells us why it’s beneficial in the long run.
The good doc warns folks to stay away from foods on shelves in the middle of the grocery store, and to instead shop around the outer perimeter of the store … explaining why that’s where the freshest options are featured.
Millions of Americans rely on federal food stamps, or SNAP, to fill their refrigerators and pantries … and Dr. Phil wants to see new rules that forbid folks from using their assistance on unhealthy junk food.
The reason this problem requires a solution … Dr. Phil says poor eating habits over the years have left generations of Americans sick and in poor health.
Dr. Phil dives deeper into the issues in his new project, “Make America Healthy Again: Dr. Phil’s Merit TV Special” … airing tonight at 9 PM ET on MeritTV.

President Trump is remembering Pope Francis with some kind words … and POTUS is making sure the late Pope’s death is recognized across the country.
Trump just spoke at the White House Easter Egg Roll event Monday and he opened his remarks with a few words about Pope Francis, who died earlier this morning.
The Prez is remembering Francis as a good man who worked hard and “loved the world.”

Trump also says he signed an executive order lowering all federal and state flags across the U.S. to be flown at half-mast to honor the Pope’s death.
On social media, Trump posted about Francis … “May God Bless him and all who loved him!”
While Trump and Pope Francis last met in person way back in 2017, Trump’s Vice President JD Vance briefly met with Francis on Easter Sunday … only hours before he died.

Another airplane flight, another scare — this time with fire and thick smoke pouring out of a plane engine … thankfully, while still on the tarmac.
The whole thing was caught on camera by stunned onlookers — Delta Flight 1213, set to take off from Orlando International Airport en route to Atlanta Monday morning, went up in flames, with video showing an engine fire blazing.
Passengers were spotted sliding down the inflatable slides to safety as fire rescue crews rushed in to douse the fire.
A Delta spokesperson tells TMZ the Airbus A330 was carrying 200 passengers, 10 flight attendants, and 2 pilots — and no injuries were reported.
We’re told passengers were brought back to the terminal and offered food and drinks while Delta prepared additional aircraft to get everyone to their final destinations later today.
Delta says the flight crew followed all standard safety procedures after spotting flames coming from the tailpipe of one of the jet’s two engines — and maintenance will examine the aircraft to see what went wrong.
An Orlando International Airport rep tells TMZ … the fire, which started at about 11:06 AM local time, was contained and extinguished. Orlando Police and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting personnel were on scene investigating.
With all the airplane mishaps lately, this latest scare just adds fuel to the growing nerves passengers are already feeling about flying.
