Lyle Menendez was constantly injured during his early days in jail, his ex-wife says … but, he kept a sense of humor through it all and never spilled on exactly what happened to him.
We spoke with Anna Eriksson — Lyle’s wife from 1996 to 2001 — who tells TMZ she went to visit Lyle quite a bit when he was first incarcerated … and, he was clearly suffering from a series of injuries when she saw him.
Eriksson says she once saw the white of his eye was blood-red … and, another time he couldn’t even walk properly. Anna says she sent Lyle new shoes but later noticed he was wearing some old ones she didn’t recognize — and, she believes the new ones were taken from him by force.
Despite the obvious issues, Anna says Lyle never opened up to her about what he was going through … claiming instead he was injured playing basketball. He never complained, she said, despite living a brutal experience.
On one occasion, Anna remembers the warden at the prison where Lyle was doing time telling her that Lyle needed to come out of his cell to avoid adding more time to his sentence.
When she told Lyle this, he responded by explaining he saw a fellow prisoner’s throat slit one day … and, he didn’t want to leave his cell in the morning after that because he feared for his life.
Anna says the brothers’ phone calls with their therapists and a priest helped the brothers to calm down and care for themselves behind bars. The help allowed the Menendez bros to better deal with their emotions.
2 Angry Men Podcast
As we told you … Erik spoke with Harvey and Mark Geragos on the “2 Angry Men” podcast about the brutal beatings he and Lyle suffered early on in prison. Their treatment has improved over the years, we’re told … and, Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego has been a much less dangerous environment for the brothers.
Erik and Lyle are still waiting for their resentencing hearing next month … but, it sounds like their current accommodations are a walk in the park compared to the old days.

Cause Of Death Revealed

Guilherme “Bomba” Vasconcelos — an MMA fighter who competed in the UFC and Bellator, and dated Demi Lovato — died by suicide, according to newly-released documents.
TMZ Sports obtained the case report from the October 15 incident … which state cops were dispatched to an Illinois home around 9 AM after a woman reported finding Vasconcelos in the garage.
After reviewing security camera footage … cops determined Vasconcelos took his own life the night prior around 11:45 PM — and was not discovered until the following morning.
A search of the house recovered several vials of anabolic steroids, with two mostly empty and two unopened. A suicide note was not discovered.
According to a toxicology report … it yielded only one positive finding — caffeine.
Over the course of his MMA career … Vasconcelos racked up a record of 10-6. He and Lovato were first spotted together in 2017 during New Year’s Eve festivities after several months of dating.
Guilherme’s uncle, Walter, mourned the loss of his nephew at the time … saying, “We were looking forward to your visit for Christmas, which will no longer happen. Life is fleeting, and we woke up to this devastating news. What a time we live in.”

Justin Bieber was getting snapped and then he snapped … unloading on a paparazzi for saying something the pop star felt was disrespectful.
Ya gotta see the heated interaction between Justin and a photog … with the Biebs snapping at the guy, set off by the dude saying “Thank you.”
Justin asks the photog — who is not a TMZ cameraman — why he’s thanking him … and explains why it’s disrespectful to do so.
Bieber was heading back to his SUV with Hailey Bieber after grabbing breakfast at Beverly Glen Deli in Los Angeles … and paps were waiting for him.
Justin told the guy to stick to taking pictures and letting him do his thing … with no need to thank JB for anything.
We don’t usually see this kind of reaction from Justin … so it’s pretty interesting.
Justin and Hailey hanging out in public is noteworthy too … the couple was dogged by break-up rumors last month but they squashed it and now they’re out together.
