Brewers want to keep the Dodgers from a threepeat

The road many expected throughout the season has finally led back to the same destination.

The Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers will renew their growing postseason rivalry in the 2026 National League Championship Series beginning Sunday night at American Family Field. For veteran star Christian Yelich, this matchup has felt inevitable since spring training. [newsday.com]

After posting a franchise-record 103 victories and claiming home-field advantage throughout the National League playoffs, Milwaukee now gets another opportunity to overcome the team that has repeatedly ended its postseason dreams. The Dodgers swept the Brewers in last year’s NLCS and have also eliminated Milwaukee in previous playoff meetings dating back to 2018.

Brewers Looking for Redemption

The Brewers enter the series with confidence after defeating the San Diego Padres in four games during the National League Division Series. Led by Yelich, Jackson Chourio, and one of baseball’s deepest pitching staffs, Milwaukee finished with the best record in Major League Baseball during the regular season.

The memory of last year’s NLCS remains fresh. Milwaukee scored just one run in each game of the four-game sweep and struggled offensively throughout the series. This year’s club believes it is better equipped to challenge the defending champions.

Skubal vs. Misiorowski Headlines Game 1

The biggest attraction of the series may come before a single hitter steps into the batter’s box.

Game 1 features a marquee pitching showdown between Dodgers ace Tarik Skubal and Brewers star Jacob Misiorowski. The Dodgers officially named Skubal their Game 1 starter after he helped eliminate Atlanta in the NLDS, while Milwaukee will counter with Misiorowski, the frontrunner for the 2026 National League Cy Young Award.

Misiorowski dominated throughout the regular season, posting a 16-5 record with a 1.80 ERA and an MLB-leading 252 strikeouts. His triple-digit fastball has become one of baseball’s most feared weapons.

Meanwhile, Skubal has continued to pitch like one of baseball’s elite arms since arriving in Los Angeles. The two-time Cy Young winner gives the Dodgers another frontline ace alongside Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who is expected to start Game 2.

Dodgers Continue Three-Peat Quest

Los Angeles enters the NLCS after a 100-win season and another division title. The Dodgers remain on a quest for a third consecutive World Series championship and continue to be led by superstar Shohei Ohtani, one of the game’s biggest postseason attractions.

While Milwaukee owns home-field advantage, Los Angeles carries the experience of multiple deep postseason runs and a proven championship core.
