The new ‘America’s Governor’? Byron Donalds earns Mark Levin seal of approval

Gov. Ron DeSantis has yet to endorse U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds to succeed him, but one of the friendliest people in the media to the outgoing chief executive is singing the Congressman’s praises.

Talk show host Mark Levin, who has given DeSantis some of his most favorable showcases for years and is responsible more than anyone for the “America’s Governor” tag, gave the Naples Republican props on a recent show.

Levin said Donalds would be a “fantastic Governor” and described opponents of his as “kooks,” though he didn’t name them.

“Help this man, ladies and gentlemen,” Levin implored his listeners.

Support from Levin can be very helpful, as he is loath to ask tough questions to politicians he likes and very rarely books adversaries for segments.

One example of Levin offering softballs was in 2023 when Levin enthused over DeSantis getting in better shape.

“It looks like you’ve lost about 30 or 40 pounds and it looks like I picked those up,” Levin quipped.

Levin discussed his own struggles with chocolate cake, leading DeSantis to offer some advice.

“You only live once, man, so sometimes you’ve got to let it rip,” DeSantis joked back.

It remains to be seen if Levin’s appearance with Donalds means that DeSantis, who has expressed qualms about the Congressman being insufficiently conservative, will eventually relent and back him should he become the nominee.
