Democratic lawyer Ashley Litwin Diego has turned in another solid round of fundraising, according to her campaign, which says she amassed more than $50,000 last quarter toward flipping House District 106.
That haul, combined with prior gains, would put her total fundraising since she launched her campaign in October at more than $160,000.
Litwin Diego’s campaign credits her fiscal standing to “strong grassroots support” and a “broad network of community members who believe in her vision of compassion, fairness, and common-sense solutions.”
Official campaign finance reports for local and state-level races are due by the end of Friday. As of press time, none of the three candidates in the race for HD 106 had submitted reports.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the strong support behind our campaign, because it reflects what I’m hearing from families every day: people are ready for someone who will listen, show up, and fight for them,” Litwin Diego said in a statement.
“Residents, families, and small business owners are struggling with rising costs, crushing insurance premiums, and a sense that no one in Tallahassee is fighting for them. I’m running to change that — to bring common sense, compassion, and real solutions to the issues that are impacting our community right now.”
Litwin Diego is a first-time candidate and seasoned trial lawyer, having practiced for nearly two decades with a focus on defending constitutional rights and promoting criminal justice reform.
She is also a breast cancer survivor and President of the Board of Directors for Transition Inc., a Miami nonprofit that has helped more than 35,000 returning citizens find jobs and stability after incarceration.
Litwin Diego is competing in a Democratic Primary against former Miami-Dade County School Board member Lucia Báez-Geller, who raised $190,500 last year. Of that sum, $150,000 was self-loaned.
The seat representing HD 106, which covers a coastal strip of Miami-Dade between Miami Beach and Aventura, has been in Republican control since 2022.
