Rep. Jim McGovern Says Public Pressure on Congress Works, Mocks Lindsey Graham

Rep. Jim McGovern has boots on the ground in Washington D.C. — he’s there hoping to vote on a bill to end the government shutdown, but says Capitol Hill is a ghost town … so, he’s taking shots at Lindsey Graham.

The Congressman from Massachusetts joined us Thursday on “TMZ Live,” and told us Speaker Mike Johnson needs to call the House back from their 2-week spring break, so they can fund the government.

Problem is, there ain’t exactly a lot of other lawmakers in town … we’ve seen them enjoying the recess in places like West Hollywood, Las Vegas, Scotland and Disney World.

Jim talked to us from the steps of a government building, where he took a swipe at Sen. Graham for using break to spend 3 days at Disney World … complete with a bubble wand in hand.

As you know, TMZ put the word out that we want photos and videos of the 535 members of Congress on spring break as the partial government shutdown drags on … and Jim says the public pressure and shaming is a great idea. Plus, he explains how it’s kinda working.

While Jim tries to lay blame at Speaker Johnson’s feet, we feel this is on BOTH parties because THEY didn’t compromise to keep the government open … but that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t love to know where Mikey J is.
