Tampa Electric has hired Ed Narain as Director of Regional Affairs, bringing a former state lawmaker and longtime Tampa Bay leader into a role focused on local engagement.
Narain will oversee outreach to local governments, community organizations and business leaders, working to strengthen ties across the utility’s service area in West Central Florida.
“Ed brings an extraordinary depth of experience in public policy, community leadership and stakeholder engagement,” said Stephanie Smith, Vice President of Government Affairs at Tampa Electric. “His strong relationships throughout the region and proven ability to build partnerships will be a tremendous asset as we continue working closely with the communities we serve.”
Narain joins Tampa Electric after serving as Vice President of External and Legislative Affairs for AT&T, where he led stakeholder strategy and public policy engagement.
A licensed attorney and experienced board leader, Narain has chaired numerous government and nonprofit organizations. In 2025, he served as Chair of the Tampa Bay Chamber Board of Directors, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay, and the Saint Leo University Board of Trustees. He previously chaired the Children’s Board of Hillsborough County and the Hillsborough County Charter Review Board.
Before that, he represented House District 61 in the Florida House from 2014 to 2016. During his tenure, he focused on policies aimed at encouraging business innovation and economic growth, including tax incentives for research and development. He also served as Chair of the Florida Legislative Black Caucus.
“I’m excited to join Tampa Electric and continue working with community leaders across the region,” Narain said. “Tampa Electric has a long history of supporting the growth and success of the communities it serves, and I look forward to helping strengthen those partnerships.”
Narain holds a law degree from Stetson University College of Law, along with an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Saint Leo University. In 2025, he was named one of the Tampa Bay Business Journal’s 100 Most Influential Leaders.
