Michael B Jordan leads Timothee Chalamet in race for Oscar, ‘One Battle After Another’ hot favorite to scoop big prize

A new analysis has revealed which actors are leading the race for Best Actor and the Best Picture at the upcoming Oscar awards, with betting odds pointing to a tight battle between some of Hollywood’s biggest names and films.

Heart Bingo analyzed the latest UK betting odds to identify the films and actors most likely to win Best Picture as well as Best Actor at the upcoming Academy Awards, ranking the top 10 contenders based on current bookies’ odds. “One Battle After Another” ranks first in the current Oscar Best Picture betting market, priced at 2/9. 

The film is directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, starring Leonardo DiCaprio in a story reportedly centered around a group of former revolutionaries reconnecting years after their activism. 

“Sinners” sits second with odds priced at 3/1. Directed by Ryan Coogler, the film is a supernatural thriller set in the American South, starring Michael B. Jordan in a dual role. 

The film has generated strong early buzz following its release and marks another major project between Coogler and Jordan.

“Hamnet” ranks third with odds priced at 16/1. Directed by Chloé Zhao, the film adapts Maggie O’Farrell’s bestselling novel and tells the story of William Shakespeare”s family and the death of his son Hamnet, exploring themes of grief and creativity in Elizabethan England.

“Marty Supreme” ranks fourth with odds currently at 33/1. Directed by Josh Safdie, the film stars Timothée Chalamet and centers around the rise of a professional table tennis player in the competitive world of international sport.

The remainder of the list features a several way-tie, with all films sharing odds priced at 50/1. 

“Sentimental Value”, the latest film from Norwegian director Joachim Trier; “Train Dreams”, an adaptation of Denis Johnson”s novella, and directed by Clint Bentley.

“The Secret Agent”, a political thriller from Brazilian director Kleber Mendonça Filho, “Bugonia”, a dark comedy from Yorgos Lanthimos.

“Frankenstein”, Actor and director Guillermo del Toro”s long-awaited gothic reimagining of the classic story, and finally “F1”, Joseph Kosinski’s high-budget Formula One drama starring Brad Pitt.

Michael B. Jordan currently tops the market in first place for his performance in “Sinners”, Directed by Ryan Coogle, with odds priced at 1/6. 

Receiving a good critical reception, Jordan’s intense leading role helped place him firmly at the front of the betting market. The actor is widely seen as the one to beat as awards season reaches its final stretch.

Close behind in second place is Timothée Chalamet, with current odds priced at 2/7. The actor’s performance in “Marty Supreme” has pushed the actor further up the list. 

Directed by Josh Safdie, the film tells the story of a young businessman navigating a ruthless world of high-stakes ambition, with Chalamet’s performance drawing praise from critics and audiences alike.

Leonardo DiCaprio ranks in third place, with odds priced at 6/1 thanks to his role in “One Battle After Another”. 

Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film has attracted major attention throughout awards season, even being nominated for Best Picture.

Fourth place goes to Wagner Moura, whose role in “The Secret Agent”, with odds currently priced at 8/1. 

Directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho, the political thriller centers around espionage and corruption, with Moura’s gripping portrayal helping keep him firmly in the running.

Rounding out the top five in fifth place is Ethan Hawke, with odds priced at 10/1 for his performance in “Blue Moon”. 

The film explores the world of music and ambition, with Hawke delivering one of the most talked-about performances of his career and keeping his name among this year’s Oscar nominee hopefuls.

With the Academy Awards taking place on 16 March, the Best Picture and Best Actor race is now in the final days, meaning betting markets are beginning to stabilize around the leading contenders. 

However, late momentum can still influence the outcome. Strong performances at ceremonies such as the BAFTAs, Critics’ Choice Awards and Producers Guild Awards often play a key role in shaping Academy voting patterns, meaning even films further down the betting list can occasionally close the gap in the final week before the Oscar Awards.
