Let ‘em Run Review of Friday 2/6/26 at Oaklawn and Preview of 2/14/26
What a loaded weekend of racing we just witnessed with Let ’em Run, with multiple Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks prep races that had some interesting results. There will definitely be some adjusting of the standings, for the Derby and Oaks, so stay tuned. And with this week coming up, be sure to take care of your Valentine Day plans early, as there is a loaded card at Fair Grounds on Saturday. The Late P5 is all stakes races, including The Risen Star, a 50 point prep race for the Derby, and The Rachel Alexandra for 20 points leading to the Kentucky Oaks.
On Sunday at Sunland Park there are two big prep races. The Sunland Derby is a 20 point prep race, getting the winner a step closer to the first Saturday in May. The Sunland Park Oaks will also be run on Sunday, an Oaks prep race, awarding 20 points to the winner.
Oaklawn Friday Card Results
Let ‘em Run was at Oaklawn on a special, rescheduled Friday card, and here are the results that we put out there.
Race 8
Top pick #3 Super Cruiser was outdone, and was able to secure 2nd place, as longshot Mackman took top honors. Our long shot play #1 American Law was scratched.
Race 9
Our “free square” play in the sequence, #5 Vital Mind did his job and came in 1st place. We had a 2nd pick in the #8 Sharp Swinger, that hit the board in third place.
Race 10
We had #7 Ankarina as the speed play in this race, and she did not hit the front as we expected, and all horse were taken over by favorite, #5 Foie Gras. Again, another longshot play, #4 Hush It Honey, was scratched out of the race.
Race 11
The Southwest Stakes, the race of the day, was a complete whiff for us as our pick #2 D’code, did fire out of the gate, but ran out of gas, as the distance took its toll. Longshot winner #11 Silent Tactic bided his time, and ran by the field impressively to take top honors.
Race 12
A mild comeback, as #12 Money Run did take top honors, and #2 Bright Spark came in second, as two runners we had tabbed to do the job.
