Four lawyers have been disbarred and another seven were suspended from practice by the Florida Supreme Court and The Florida Bar.
The two bodies issue discipline for the 115,000 members of The Florida Bar who engage in misconduct. The 11 recent cases of discipline were announced in late January.
Nadia Mary Metroka of Ocala was disbarred following a four-count complaint for misconduct over a four-year period. The complaint noted she had multiple arrests, misconduct involving communications in a civil lawsuit, failure to abide by court orders leading to a mistrial in a case and failure to timely comply with court orders.
Zachary A. Harrington of Tampa was also disbarred. The Florida Bar news release said Harrington misappropriated $14,000 in settlement funds owed to a client in a case. He also failed to respond to repeated requests from The Florida Bar for information.
Les Schneiderman of Boynton Beach was another lawyer to be disbarred in relation to a child custody matter case. Schneiderman filed a pair of motions in the case but never set motions for hearing. He also did not take any further action and did not properly communicate with the client.
Timothy Wayne Terry of Orlando was another lawyer disbarred for engaging “in an ongoing course of conduct where he took legal fees to represent clients in domestic relations cases and then failed to handle the (cases) in a diligent and competent manner.” He also did not respond to the clients when they had inquiries.
The seven lawyers suspended include: William Gautier Kitchen of Tallahassee, Kelly Brook Hampton of Atlantic Beach, Scott N. Faden of Fort Myers, David William Davich of Maitland, Dawn M. Aufenanger of Davie, Nah-Deh E. W. Simmons of Jacksonville and Noam J. Cohen of Maimi.
