Ron DeSantis rips Gavin Newsom for ‘frolicking’ at Davos, dissing Donald Trump on foreign soil

Just when you thought it was over, the storyline starts again.

On Friday’s “Hannity,” Gov. Ron DeSantis denounced his California counterpart Gavin Newsom for appearing at Davos this week and disparaging President Donald Trump.

Among other things, Newsom, who appears at this point to be a front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028, said he is “living rent-free in the Trump administration’s head.”

DeSantis, who appears to be a long-shot on the GOP side should he run for president for a second straight cycle, criticized Newsom for his temerity.

“He’s out there frolicking around in Davos. basically attacking the President of the United States, urging foreign leaders to rally against him while he’s on foreign soil, and he’s has a record where people are leaving the state. They’ve obviously had a lot of problems with homelessness,” DeSantis said.

DeSantis also said Newsom “Soros-ed” California, a response to a picture Hannity showed of the Golden State Governor talking to Alex Soros, in yet another in a series of DeSantis disses of the Soros family’s left-wing political involvement.

The friendly host and DeSantis also talked about in-migration from California.

DeSantis said a “lot of Republicans were freaked out by seeing California license plates, ’cause they’re thinking to themselves, Is this Berkeley in Florida, where they’re gonna turn us blue, and it was actually the opposite. The people that were leaving across, you know, traveling across the entire continent, picking up their lives, were doing it because they had had enough of the failed policies. They had enough of being treated poorly by their state and local governments, and they’ve viewed Florida as the refuge for freedom and sanity.”

Back in 2023, Newsom was positioned as an Alan Colmes styled foil in a “debate” with DeSantis on Hannity’s show. DeSantis has been back dozens of times since, with Hannity and he exulting in the memory. But that event appears to have been a one off, given Newsom’s most recent comments about the Florida Governor.

“Honestly, I kind of forgot Ron DeSantis is still Governor,” Newsom said last year, expressing “sub-zero interest” in debating “Sean Hannity and Ron DeSantis” again.
